Trying something different over the next 4 weeks, gonna be posting a series of anthologies and 1 full length story that all take place in the same magic college setting, set over the course of 1 school year, occasionally intersecting with one another, hope you like!



The Institute of Ahzek:
Magic schools, what fantasy setting would be complete without them?
I know there’s quite a few, don’t actually answer that.
In The World Within, there are 3 magic schools prestigious enough to be worth mentioning, and while the place of number one is up for a very heated debate, the magic college located in the Ahzek district of Newauld City is undeniably the oldest.
Well, technically the district isn’t actually located ‘in’ Newauld parse, as, centuries ago, a great magical fire escaped the Institute and nearly burned down the city, ever since then it has been law that the college be located no closer that 1 and a half miles to the city, a law the arch wizards dutifully uphold, using their combined sorceries to move the entire district every few decades, when Newaulds expansion pushes it too close to the boundary line.
Currently located just under 2 miles north-east of Newauld City, and a quarter-mile from the coastal fishing village of Wakeside (a popular haunt for the students in their off times, much to the annoyance of the locals), the district consists of a large town, primarily serving as housing for students and faculty, but also playing host to numerous restaurants and shops for said residents, surrounding the campus district in the centre, marked by the imposing, gothic cathedral that serves as both the campus’s main hall, and a church to Alexandria, the patron Seraph of the college.
