Honestly, the bravery of the daughter is still surprising me. I still don't know if its permanently fatal or if theres some form of reformation or reincarnation going on. No one seems to care for the student deaths or deaths in general, so it could also just be that no one really cares about life? Either way, digestion seems to be very painful judging from the second image in the series, so even if it would just equal a simple punishment I can't imagine risking it.
