And so, another year at the Ahzek Institute has ended, a lot of interesting things happened involving some interesting people, so many I couldn't write about them all, but now the school breaks up for summer, who knows what next year might entail...
(That's flowery writer talk for: 'I enjoyed this little writing project, I have a bunch of other ideas, and I'll definitely be doing more themed months like this in the future')
LORE BYTE!
Arcane Technology and Magical Engineering:
If asked the majority of laypersons in The World Within would likely not be able to provide any tangible differences, but the 2 fields, despite their surface level similarities, are quite different.
Arcane Technology, despite the name, involves no direct usage of technological components, instead, Arcane Tech items are entirely magical, but they use principles of technology, such as internal power sources, in their construction.
Example: A shrink ray may be powered by a magically rechargeable stone, the magical energies of this stone are then siphoned off and distributed to the required areas of the device by ‘wires’ made from a magically reactive material.
In comparison, Magical Engineering marries the disparate fields of magic and science in a much more direct fashion, by incorporating physical components of both fields in its devices, such as by using a magically rechargeable heat source in the construction of an otherwise standard steam engine.
In short, Arcane Technology is the marrying of scientific theory with magical practise, and Magical Engineering is figuring out how to intertwine the 2 fields in unison.
In the lands of The Papal Order, Magical Engineering is taught at the Powder College of Arkhan, whilst Arcane Technology classes can be found in The Institute of Ahzek.

Love it when extracurricular discipline goes long-term :P

Especially if upon (intended, regreted) failure. He'd be so much in 'internship', that the student would become a permament 'part/feature' of the lecture. Especially if his parents end up washing their hands on giving a care of getting them out.

Ms Gardenier just needs to admit it at some point. That she doesn’t plan on letting him out. Lol
