A dark stormy night, a haunted lighthouse with a dark history and a disappearance of one of the keepers, all the ingredients for a dark fairy tale.
LORE BYTE!
The Middenlands, Byte #1:
Free Cities, Petty Kingdoms, Fallen Empires, while the great powers of The World Within have carved out their own lands, they are by no means the only nations that exist, at the centre of The World Within, north of The Papal Order of The World Mother, West of The Clear-Skies Initiative, east of The Carnal Church of Uterall, beneath the sun and above the Infraorder of Brachyura, lies numerous, independent, free nations, who, though divided amongst themselves, have a collective history richer than any of the greater powers.
Though various different examples of nations and city states can be found across The Middenlands, the name ‘Free Cities’ has become the de-facto term for describing the cultures, even the nations that contain more than one city have been burdened with this label.
Similarly, the name ‘Middenlands’ is itself, derogatory, as it draws from the word, ‘Midden’ which means ‘trash heap’ referring to the fact that the nations of The Middenlands are primarily composed of young powerless nations, fallen empires and decadent cultures that survive entirely off the back of trade.
But the thing most people forget about trash heaps, is that the further down you dig, the older the things you’ll find, and with such richness of diversity found across the free cities, there are more than a few ancient and terrible secrets and artefacts buried, if you know where to look.

Really like this one, people getting permanently sealed in some cute girl's curves is criminally underrated. Fun to think about her sleeping peacefully some number of years in the future and her chest is shaking vigorously in her sleep as its occupant tries to escape.
