Kent Wells is excited to explore the new sword and sorcery themed area of Lamont Land, unfortunately for him, the jungle hides a predator from his sight...
OK, I'll be the first to admit, I've been listening to the 'The Shadow' radio episodes up on audible, so sue me.
LORE BYTE!
Cranston Publishing's:
The Cranston Media Group, or CMG for short, is perhaps the biggest media powerhouse in The World Within, with a stranglehold on everything, from written media, such as novels and comics, to visual projects, such as movies and television, they even have their own gigantic theme park, its hard to believe that it all began with a nerdy Arrival in denial about his situation, writing short stories in his apartment.
Lamont Cranston (birth name unknown) was an Arrival who appeared in The World Within during the mid-1950’s, originally he holed himself up in his caretakers apartment, writing stories about a fictional masked vigilante, attempting to recreate the stories he’d read in the outside world.
Originally a coping method to deal with the trauma of having his whole life taken away, his caretaker, after snooping through his papers, convinced him to publish the stories, which found huge success, however, Lamont found that he did not enjoy working with publishers, and so, founded his own publishing firm, ‘Cranston Publishing's’ in order to sidestep the money grubbers who kept insisting he alter his books.
After that, Cranston Publishing's grew fast, hiring more writers, writing original Shadow stories (instead of the recreations Lamont started with) and even branching out to various other genres, the style of writing was, at the time, unique to The World Within, and was thus, interesting, this of course led to copycats, but in the public eye, the Cranston Publishing's logo on a book cover was akin to a seal of quality, which just led to further sales.
Now, Cranston Publishing's is the writing arm of the Cranston Media Group, and as such, are effectively the bedrock of the company, as it’s their works that get adapted, their works that are turned into rides at the companies amusement park, and their works that bring in the most in sales revenue.
As a side note, Cranston Publishing's began life printing Shadow novels, before the character entered the public domain, as such, they technically started off printing plagiarised works, but really, whose going to file that suit?
