The Gem Armed Coalition (GAC for short) is, simply put, one of the largest mercenary organizations in the Milky Way. Staffed by over 500,000 Gems, it takes a lotta effort operating such a vast business. While Emeralds command the warships, Nephrites operate the controls, and NCP is the GAC's leader, who is left to keep track of the logistics? Who receives and manages mercenary contracts? Who makes sure everyone is paid on time?

Why, that's none other than the red Pearl, 'One Eye!' As the Logistics Specialist and one of NCP's closest advisors, One Eye has a lotta influence in the GAC. She essentially serves as the second-in-command, though One Eye will default to Emerald 5XC in times of battle. Not bad for a Pearl fresh into Era 3, eh?

In fact, long before the Crystal Gem Rebellion, One Eye was given to NCP as a gift for her loyalty to Homeworld and its colonies. As an Era 1 Pearl, One Eye was quiet and obedient to her master. One who always kept in line, never questioning NCP's orders or judgement. Sure, NCP's lust for battle and steely indifference to Homeworlds protocol worried the red Pearl, but One Eye stayed beside NCP through right and wrong.

However, after the Crystal Gem Rebellion and well into Era 2, One Eye showed a certain... tenacity. Since NCP was required in frontline combat during the war, the demand for a trustworthy Gem who could handle complex logistics was high. One Eye filled the role quite well, but whether for the sake of the mission, NCP's safety, or Homeworld's expectations, One Eye learned how to put her foot down. If the ammo hadn't arrived yet, NCP couldn't go gallivanting with laser swords instead. If the Roaming Eyes and Hand Ships were badly damaged, NCP shouldn't demand they be fixed faster. If the squad was outnumbered by Crystal Gems to 4-to-1, they shouldn't die in a blaze of glory.

Being a master of logistics gives people a certain special mindset. They know the limits of their friends, allies, and themselves better than most. They don't win wars through battle skills, bloodshed and sacrifice, but by thinking about how to keep everyone safe. How could One Eye be a proper servant, a good Pearl, if NCP got herself hurt? Her role as Logistic Specialist gave One Eye greater control over her life than she ever knew as a Pearl ordered to dance and look pretty.

That said, much as the Crystal Gem Rebellion left everyone with scars, the stress lingers on One Eye's mind. She wasn't broken by war, but she developed certain anxieties. She works non-stop, 24/7, 365 days a year. If One Eye stops, she feels as if she's letting everyone down, putting their lives at risk. It takes a monumental amount of persuasion to get One Eye to take a break. She rarely sleeps, and a vacation? What a pipe dream!

In fact, this stress leads One Eye to eat occasionally Gems to maintain her energy level. If an Amethyst is slouching around or a Peridot is building idle inventions instead of repairing damages to the hull, they'll serve the GAC better as food. After all, One Eye knows how the GAC works, inside-and-out. If she says someone is better off as lunch, she probably knows what she's talking about! That, oooooor its the semi-corruption talking, since she was caught in the Diamond's Corruption Wave much like NCP. Either or!

But hey, things aren't all bad! Sure, One Eye is always working, but she chooses to work. She stayed at her former master, NPC's side, but she choose to stay at her side. Era 3 didn't give One Eye that liberty, she chose it herself after the war. After all, how could the Diamonds ever accept a semi-corrupted Gem like her? Plus, it brought One Eye closer to a certain blue assassin... someone whose company makes One Eye smile, if only faintly...

After waffling back-and-forth on the matter for the better part of a year, I decided to add references of the other characters in the Steven Universe AU, "Out of this Universe." Its always feels weird, honestly, reposting someone else's content, even with their permission. I certainly don't want to upstage  z3d by stealing views, comments, and such. Buuuuuuuuut consolidating all the AU's content is also important, so after reconfirmed z3d's stance on reposting his content, I cracked like an egg.
