An eerie silence hung in the air. Lapis’ question vanished into the aether, the echoes dying in the darkness. In the thunderous quiet, a pin drop would clatter like a thousand drums.

The white Gem stared at Lapis with silver eyes, which were cooly distant as a neutron star. This was Gem was without pity or remorse, as unfeeling as a statue. If Lapis hadn’t groped her meaty thighs moments ago, she would have sworn this Gem was cold as ice.

Then, without breaking eye contact, the white Gem closed her mouth shut. Peridot vanished from sight, a mere bulge in the Gem’s puffy cheeks. Instantly, the silent dread in Lapis’ heart turned to spine-tinging terror.

“Peridot!”
