Heedless of Lapis, the white Gem tilted her head back. Even a guillotine couldn’t look so ominous. It felt as though the weight of the world hung over Lapis’ head, ready to shatter her to bits. She could only imagine how Peridot felt at this moment, trapped in that toothy maw.

Briefly, the white Gem’s frosty exterior melted away, replaced with an expression of decadent delight. Her smile was smug, so proud and strong. It was tinged with sadistic glee, pleased to humiliate a puny Gem far beneath herself. It was an expression Lapis knew all too well, for during Era 1, Gem nobility often wore such masks.

Then, in one clean motion, the white Gem took a deep gulp. Peridot disappeared from her mouth and a large bulge formed in her throat. It slid ever downwards the steep slope, nearly pulverized by the tight tunnel. Perhaps Peridot let out a sharp yelp of pain from the pressure, perhaps not; it was impossible to hear anything over the slimy GLLRRRRRK.

Her voice soft as a whisper, Lapis muttered, “Sweet stars, Peridot…”
