All too quickly, the bulge traveled down the white Gem’s throat and into her gut. It left only the faintest bump, protruding maybe an inch or two. If a passerby saw the belly, they’d never believe a whole Gem became a meal. At worst, they’d believe the white Gem should go on a diet or perhaps had the slightest baby bump. Was there another Gem hybrid on the way!?

What completed the illusion, however, was the silence: not once did Peridot cry in fear or bash her fists. There was no sign of a struggle. Perhaps the stomach muscles were too strong, pinning Peridot in place? All she could do was lie in darkness and be bathed in acid, doomed to melt away. Or perhaps the white Gem put the fear of the Diamonds in her beforehand, and Peridot would rather die than face their wrath?

Either way, the faint growl of digestion emanated from the white Gem, who stroked the belly bulge. Licking her teeth with a fat, gray tongue, the white Gem savored Peridot’s flavor. The green Gem had tasted of fruit with a zesty sourness, not unlike a lime. At the same time, she glared at Lapis and let out a low moan, as if annoyed by the intrusion.

“A-Ah! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to… to…” Lapis stuttered sharply. How did she not realize it before? She recognized this Gem. How could she not, for before her stood the myth, the legend, the unholy terror. White Spinel.
