The whole world went cold. Time slowed down and sounds came in distant and muffled. Within the safety of her mind, Lapis considered the situation.

On one hand, Peridot was her roommate, one of the few friends Lapis knew. Sure, the green gremlin was loud and whiny and spent too much time building machines, but she had her redeeming qualities. It was fun to binge-watch ‘Camp Pining Hearts’ with her, and Peridot was always good for a laugh. She even inspired Lapis to make Meep-Morps.

On the other hand, was it worth fighting White Spinel over her? How well did Lapis like Peridot that much? Enough to throw away her life in a desperate, futile attempt to save her? This White Gem could crush gems within the palm of her hand. If an all-out fight broke out, all of Beach City would be caught in the crosshairs. Steven & the Crystal Gems were strong, but were they strong enough to beat White Spinel? Lapis highly doubted it. They'd be devoured too, reduced to naught by food for White Spinel's bottomless belly.

Not that it mattered. There came wet burble from White Spinel’s gut, and like that, it went completely flat. Peridot was digested like the puny potato chip she was, and White Spinel’s hips swelled in size. They grew and grew and grew, becoming wider than the barn door. Each buttcheek was thick as cheesecake and jigglier than jello. Surely those massive buns were heavier than boulders and could crush Lapis' head like a walnut.

All too easily, Lapis imagined how easily she could disappear into that booty, not leaving even a bump.

‘Oh, no. I took too long…’ thought Lapis. The blue Gem looked forlornly at the huge hips. To think they were Peridot's grave, her new home. ‘What will Steven say? He really liked Peridot. He’s gonna miss her so much. And I'll... miss her too.’

Wait… no. No no no. Why was Lapis even worrying about this? Right now, White Spinel knew where she lived. She could Shatter or Assimilate Lapis whenever she wanted, if she didn’t do it now. Lapis, she had to run. Fly far away. So far away from Earth and Homeworld that the Gem Empire could never reach her. So White Spinel could never eat her.

Lapis Lazuli was many things, but she refused to bubbly butt fat!
