It's cold, and the bus is running late. Striking up a friendly conversation with a stranger would normally be fine, but Alannah can think of a much better way to spend the time AND warm herself up in the process. Doubly so when a boy who recently arrived realises the scarf she's wearing was his girlfriend's! When the bus finally arrives, there's two less passengers boarding. Well, one and a half-ish.
At the next stop, after everyone gets on, there's only one seat available for you. Kept empty because of the extremely noisy and hard-working guts of the woman by the window seat. She greets you warmly and tells you that the spot is free, but you'd have to be jostled by the churning thing and have no choice but to listen closely as it works down the struggling, fading occupant.. Maybe it's better to wait for the next bus..?

That other girl letting her boobs hang out must have been somewhat cold. Alannah wrapped her up and kept her company...for the rest of her life. The guy was eaten so Alannah wouldn't have to suffer from that.
