When the Omega Surge created predators, it affected more than just humans. Many animals gained the power to swallow prey whole as well. Like humans, female animals are significantly more likely to become predators. Some of these creatures also demonstrate strangely high intelligence.
This hungry kitty, Chelsea, was a stray that frequently used her cuteness to trick humans into letting her inside. When they did, she would eat them. She took a liking to Gracie, though, and finally found her forever home with her. Like her new owner, she finds Jason to be delicious.

The Omega Surge is a major plot point in the universe my stories take place in. It was the result of the planet's latent magical energy being awakened, giving people and animals supernatural abilities- in this case, eating people.
