“During our latest expedition into Sector VX8, our scientists unearthed a strange object reminiscent of a snail shell, though it didn’t match any known species of mollusk. Its surface had a golden luster, and its light seemed to come from within itself. We brought it back to the lab for further study.
Upon our return, one of our analysts touched it with her bare hands. The second she did so, the shell began to levitate and perched itself atop her head. Her body underwent a strange metamorphosis, with her skin acquiring a similar luster to the shell. Smaller shells, like those of a clam, materialized to cover her breasts, and her hair transformed into viscous slime.
As soon as her transformation was done, the subject sent a spray of her luminous slime at my other colleagues. The substance bound them in place, and she began to swallow them all one by one. Five personnel were devoured in total before the security team arrived to subdue the subject. She is currently in the containment wing, and we have yet to find a way to remove the shell.
All traces of the subject’s personality and memories have vanished. She does not in any way resemble her old self, and more disturbing still, she does not seem to remember who she was. I believe that the shell itself is sentient, and that it is using my colleague’s body as a vessel.”
