The Butler Did It By fleshlord -- Report

So I played Fates semi-recently. While it's definitely not my favorite Fire Emblem, nor does it have particularity good writing - or good writing at all - it does have the Sex Butler™, and that probably counts for something. I feel like I wrote half of this in some kind of fugue state and it just kind of showed up on my hard drive in the aftermath. This website is in dire need of more FE male pred content, though, so here it is. Not super proud of how it turned out, but an upload is still an upload.

Birthright might be a little simple, and revelation might be a war crime, and all three might be dumb as bricks, but I really do love fates characters and conquest is a solid game. As long as you ignore everything that’s happening…

Thank you kindly for sharing.

I do quite like the characters, discounting Corrin, the villains and at least half of the royal family members. While some of them are a little one-note, they're charming and have very entertaining supports with each other, with Azama and his dialogue in particular being a highlight.

It’s… hard to separate in game Corrin from the version I made up in my head while playing smash and the repeat play throughs ignoring the dialogue. But if I really think about it, then yeah, agreed.

Haha, I understand writing in a fugue state. There have been times I've roused from my stupor, the next day, and I'm like 'wtf? I wrote that?' -- digressing, this is fantastically written. The connotation alone <3

It's definitely a surreal feeling to wake up to, but I'm happy to hear that even my dissociative self can write something that isn't half bad! Thank you for the kind words~

Dissociative writing is the best writing.

Ive never watched or played Fire Emblem. Ive only fought against Corrin and the others in Smash Bros Ultimate.

That being said this was super hot. Love the butler, and this actually makes me want to look into the series! Great story!

Glad to hear you enjoyed, I had to spread some of the butler love~ And the Fire Emblem games are a great time if you're itching for a good tactical RPG to sink your teeth into!

Ahh, Fire Emblem Fates, I have heard quite a few times that its story sucks, and that Conquest is apparently better than the other two.

No idea if I should give it a shot given its infamy, and I remember having played Awakening hearing that it's quite good and... Idk, I kind of hated it, but I loved it too, its complicated.

I'd say it's a bit of a mixed bag, and depends on what you're looking for in a game. It's generally agreed that Conquest has better gameplay but has a terrible story as a trade-off, while Birthright has shallow gameplay but a decent story. The writing isn't particularly great in either and Corrin is always going to be some degree of insufferable, but most of the others characters are entertaining and the tactics gameplay is always fun regardless of its difficulty.

Three Houses is lauded as the best modern Fire Emblem, so I'd say that's the one I unequivocally recommend... granted you have the free time to play all of its routes.
