My nose is on fire Posted 16 years ago
Well it's about 11:35pm and I'm coming up the stairs to go to bed. My room usually has the windows open because it gets hot in here really easily, but tonight would have to be the night that this happened. About half way up the stairs, it hits me. A god awful stench that made me break my quiet after 11 pm rule for the parents (I'm home for a few weeks this summer). I get upstairs and it's worse. It hits me in the nose with a big S-K-U-N-K! I go to my window and listen. I can hear a cat yowling. Well it didn't take me too long to figure out what had happened. We get a lot of neighborhood cats around here that are basically just menaces. They kill song birds, fight at the early hours of the morning, make an awful racket, get into garbage cans and all that general outdoor cat stuff that makes...

Slowdown of portal and internet activity Posted 16 years ago
With finals over and done with, and me on my way home tomorrow, my internet time will be very minimal over the next month. I have summer school that starts June 9th and will be back in the dorms then with full internet connectivity. I'll be checking in on my Wii at home, but don't expect many posts or any blogging done. See you all in a month!
Headed off to the Hospital, Completely terrified Posted 16 years ago
Well this story needs a little history. Thursday night, I was outside with a few friends, playing with a miniature, twin prop R/C plane. I was flying it when a gust of wind blew it off course and into the ground. One of the small props flew off and I knelt down to look for it. After looking with a flashlight, I didn't find it, but noticed lots of biting bugs on the ground. I didn't feel anything, so I paid it no mind. The next day, I went to sign my apartment lease. I was sitting in my car and bumped the armrest with my right elbow. I felt a sharp, but little pain and looked at my arm. There was a reddish bump with what looked like a few tiny opened blisters on it. I was confused and thought I was probably bitten by a bug. No big deal, right? I've been chomped before with no side effects,...

I feel like a terrible person Posted 17 years ago
Well, for the third year in a row, I've received an invite to attend AnthroCon and for the third year in a row, had to turn it down. I've pretty much been dying to go to just hang out with these friends, but two things are preventing me.

First off is my bank account. It's stretched pretty thin as is, but a train ticket or my gas tank would drain my wallet. Plus there's the registration fee, that's even more. Then lodging adds onto it to give me a bank account that's so deep in the red, you'd think you were looking at Enron stock reports.

The next obstacle is my parents. I've been trying to figure out a way to tell my parents I was furry, but was really too modest to do so. Then there was an instance where I was channel surfing with my dad at home. Not much...

News from the ferret's nest Posted 17 years ago
Well then boys and girls (and herms), there is more news yet to be found in my burrow. Just today, I signed the lease for my apartment for next semester. It's a spiffy little one bedroom job with a clothes washer/dryer in a closet IN the apartment! Whooo!

In somewhat related news, I was sitting in my car this afternoon, going over some of the lease information. My right elbow bumped my armrest and something didn't feel quite right. I turned my arm and to my own personal shock and horror, was greeted by a swollen red lump accompanied by a small blister. I went and signed the lease, then came back to research what I had on my arm. Health services here at SIU is kind of a joke, simply throwing drugs at you after a 5 minute diagnosis. In a few cases, sometimes the health...

It's my Birthday! Posted 17 years ago
Well, technically not until 7am this morning. It's midnight now. 21 years ago I was removed by C-section at 10 pounds 8 ounces. Hey, I was born big and stayed big (Current stats: 6'3'' at 165 pounds). But yeah, my parents are coming into town today and taking me to dinner. My 23 year old sister sent me a birthday card with a five dollar bill in it. She wrote "have a drink on me" next to it. She also got me one of my favorite movies, "Bonnie and Clyde" starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. Since Clyde Barrow is my favorite gangster and somewhat of a hero, it was a fitting gift. Jackie got me a small pump gun that shoots mini marshmallows. The parentals sent me a present a few days ago, but it hasn't arrived yet. It's small, because they're big present to me is a coat I've been looking...

All shook up Posted 17 years ago
The setting: Salem, IL an hour and 15 minutes from Carbondale, IL (My location)

The Time: 4:40 AM on April 18th

The tectonic drift and shifting of plates triggers a 5.2 Richter rated earthquake. Carbondale is shaken hard enough to knock clocks off walls in classrooms at SIUC. And I SLEPT THROUGH IT! Seriously, I woke up this morning around 8:45 and checked the internet for the weather. My home page is the School's website and a message appeared:

"An assessment has been performed and there is minimal damage to SIUC. Operations are normal after the earthquake."

I paused, like "WTF?" then got showered, dressed and headed off to my 10 AM Macroeconomics class. At 10:30 AM, it feels like someone is kicking my desk before I realize...

Back in the swing of things! Posted 17 years ago
I finally started drawing again after my sketchbook got destroyed. If you check into my gallery you'll see my latest endeavor. I drew it while watching Harvey Birdman. I know, the content of the show and of my drawing do not coincide in the least, but I just sketched it up quickly.

First one to find this song for me wins a PRIZE!!! Posted 17 years ago
There is a song I have been after for quite sometime. I've been looking on iTunes, but it's not there. I don't use Limewire or any other sharing program, so I'm at a bit of a loss. So I figure put a few hundred people on this, and I'll be able to get this song. The prize is a portrait sketch of an RP character. Meaning your own creation. I don't do already made characters, so....yeah. I may be being a bit picky there, but NYAH!

Anywho, the song is entitled

You're The Only Girl (I Ever Really Loved)
By: Steve Krantz, Ed Bogas, and Ray Shanklin

It is played during the end credits of the animated 1970's classic, "Fritz The Cat" (1972). It was probably made right for the movie, but I'll praise anyone who can find me a clean and complete...

NOOOOOO!!!!! Posted 17 years ago
It's been raining a lot here in Southern Illinois. Usually I don't mind rain. It's fun, thunder sounds cool, my car slides around all fun like, but today, a tragedy occurred. I was walking to class and had up my umbrella. Unfortunately it was dripping onto my backpack heavily. What I wasn't aware of, is that my book bag's zipper had slipped open. End verdict, it damaged my sketchbook badly. 7 in progress drawings and 4 un-scanned creations were completely destroyed. I damn near broke down and cried because those took me forever to do. I had gift art in there plus a couple requests for friends. What really broke me is that a custom Camaro design I did for a friend was destroyed. It was what I considered to be my finest work. Inked, colored, clean, and now, destroyed.
