I don't know where I got this idea, or why I wrote it. A snake who other people can't see finds one of the rare people who CAN see her. Hijinks ensue.

Ahh the SEP field! A subtle something that designates any perception of a specific object, person, or act as "someone else's problem" well before it hits the conscious part of the brain. At least, that's where I first encountered this sort of perceptive filter.
Loved this interpretation of it.
