Zorina viewed it as a betrayal that she had the amulet, while Elizabeth sees this as betrayal likely due to being unwillingly devoured. From the additional details that the amulet came from Jem and Jem once incapacitated Zorina, we can assume that Zorina does not like Jem or her lover associating with her. The incapacitation could refer to her state after eating Elizabeth though.

I'm definitely loving Zorina here, but I am certainly confused by the plot. Gotta say I'm not looking forward to any bad stuff coming Zorina's way, which is why I have a bad feeling on this overall.

Goddamn I swear these books are all always so great and then there something that just makes you go ????
I think Into the Machine was the only one to make me stop and just cry myself to sleep after reading it, but a girl being betrayed and subjected to 18 MONTHS of infinite torture and dying while she contemplates suicide is definitely up there in terms of effed up stuff that has happened in these stories. Still, I LOVE the story. Into the Machine was also great, but not as porn. That one was horrifying.
