Rosalak is my Felaryan neko shaman. In this image, he has taken advantage of an existing nighttime storm. He manipulated conditions in order to increase the size and ferocity of the storm, turning it into a massive tempest. He is focusing all of the storm’s considerable energy into a central vortex in order to summon forth a powerful lightning elemental, which he can then control to do his bidding.
I've written one story so far with Rosalak titled Galya's Portal Problems.
Rosalak is the elder shaman of a tribe of very powerful nekos, almost all of whom possess magical ability of varying degrees. They live in a treetop village in a forest at the base of Black Mountain, the hazy outline of which is just barely visible on the far horizon in this image. He does not often show his true power, but when he does, things can become ... exciting.
Although he excels at nature magic, his skills encompass a variety of other magical disciplines. Rosalak is one of very few nekos in the Black Mountain tribe to have mastered all forms of elemental magic. He is responsible for teaching Galya, a giant fire naga who lives with the tribe, most of what she knows about fire and illusion magic.

Hoorah! Go, Rosalak! Wow, this is cool, a neko who has mastered magic to that level of proficiency.

There are some nekos even an adult giant naga will not tangle with. Rosalak is one of those!

Hmmm... What's the meaning behind the Chinese characters to the upper left?

That is the artist's signature, Wenart Gunadi. Typically when a commission is done, they'll send a raw version without their signature, and another version with it. For sites like Eka's and deviantart, I always post the version that includes the signature. For wiki use, as an example, I use the raw version.
