From the journals of Ruhollah Rushiadah, the Maker:

“Guests who end up in an inn room next to Fastpaw's are often annoyed by sounds coming through the wall: chittering, growling, and the moans of the popular praka bard's current lover. Once in a while, though, something much less wholesome than casual sex is going on next door. On those occasions, noise-masking spells cover up the conclusion to the affair: a startled yelp will interrupt the lovemaking, followed by a muffled struggle as Fastpaw swallows his unfortunate lover whole.

As his next-door-neighbor takes advantage of the blessed silence to enjoy a nap, the raccoon-man belches and settles down to digest his latest victim. Later he will regurgitate and dispose of anything his stomach can't process; given enough time his gastric juices will dissolve even bones, but not metal or most fabrics.

Thankfully (from what I have scried) the urge to eat people rarely strikes him, and the need to choose his prey carefully and feed secretively means he rarely follows through even when he is in the mood. Nevertheless, quite a few fellow praka, halflings, gnomes, kender or other small females (and the occasional male) climb into his bed only to vanish down a coonie's gullet.

Eventually he will be caught, or people will get suspicious enough about disappearances that he'll have to retire, but for now too many of his former lovers, and others who merely trusted him too much, exist only as fat padding his plump little frame.

I do not fault him for his libido. It is instead his interest in seeing if he can work his unhinged jaws over thinking, squirming prey that I criticize. I could report him to the authorities in some town he visits, but while it is common knowledge that some gul eat people, I prefer to keep the rare predatory praka or volpa a secret. Perhaps I should arrange for him to meet someone larger and more predatory.

I wouldn't say granting him the 'gulper' ability was a major mistake. Ria was a major mistake. Fastpaw is merely...an irritation I suppose. I do like his music, though. It'd be shame to lose that.”

Praka are quite well hung for their size, which makes male praka popular lovers among the other small races. Since they can't knock up anyone but a female praka (or perhaps a dragoness, since dragons can apparently crossbreed with ANYTHING), this is normally just harmless, casual sex. But then there's Fastpaw and Ria, two very bad apples that luckily haven't spoiled the whole barrel...yet.

When I first rad gnome, I was actually imagening the garden variety.

Does it seem suspicous for the inn owner when the praka comes down the morning after with a much larger belly than he had the night before?

Then again, inn owners have a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

As you might imagine, it's not a matter of eating random people. Fastpaw has to decide who won't be missed and then make sure no one sees them go into a room together. Luckily, a lot of his lover are married or don't want to be seen heading off to a private place with a praka, since praka are considered low-class by a lot of people.

Assuming he can't stay in the room until he's done digesting someone, he uses illusions to disguise his state. He has access to various low level spells due to his bardic training. Unless something goes badly wrong he's not going to be waddling around with his own weight in undigested prey in his gut. That'd be hard to cover up even with illusions.

Actually... I think I'd kind of like to see that. Fastpaw with a pointy red hat on, fake beard laying on the bed in a pool of some sort of slime...

Strega

I'm not sure I understand that reference. The hat is a gnome thing, but the slime?

I don't know, some sort of slime. Drool, digestive slime, semen... slime!

Will Ria ever make a reappearance?

Sure, one of these days. I just drew her eating various critters a few months back.

Random question, but is the person writing the little story a Seer?

Strega

Posted by Strega 14 years ago Report

He's a wizard, and has access to scrying spells and devices. So, a seer of sorts.

VoidGremlin

Ah. I don't like Scrying SPELLS because they can be traced back to the user. That, and I hear they're pretty expensive.

It's unsafe to use a Crystal Ball or whatnot on powerful adventurers or such, but Fastpaw isn't especially dangerous and the Maker is skilled enough to cover his tracks. 83

Ahahahaha

OKay when i clicked this i was close to just not clicking it because of the title and my current mood. And as I read down through it my mind wandered over and over again, but then i reached the end...

First love the face dent in his stomach. Second if these mini stories you put into so many of your art pieces these days are how you are going to get back into writing, keep it up I love them! Third once I figured out this was all learned via a scrying I all but fell out of the chair laughing my fool head off! Sitting here just remembering how many times villains did this to players and the things they saw at "inopportune" moments, ahahahaha

The Maker tends to look in on his "problem" creations via crystal ball from time to time. 83

VoidGremlin

I prefer real Scrying. It's takes a while to learn, but it's more fun when you don't have angry Wizards, Demons, and Knights on your tail for watching them. And crystal balls are kinda expensive xD

Strega

I don't know what "real scrying" is. Something from a splatbook or 4th edition?

VoidGremlin

Posted by VoidGremlin 14 years ago Report

It's just Scrying without a medium. No spells, no scrystal ball. It's hard to learn, and it has drawbacks, but it can only be traced back to you by other Seers.

And yes, I made a pun, forgive me v.v

When presented with physically challenging prey his strategy is to drug them or otherwise get them asleep and then tie them up. They tend to wake up partway along and watch in silent horror as the cute little coonie swallows them whole. Fastpaw can and has swallowed humans (and other species) larger than himself, but it's easier to pick on prey he can overpower so we usually see him eating those.
