Late at night, a exercising loner is surprised by a lizard-woman who seems just to want to work out before dawn; after a quick run, however, he realizes that she has in mind both exercise and a hefty addition to her diet.

I'm enjoying seeing your mutant world round out.
One thing that wasn't clear to me - was Sandra's sister also a mutant? Do these things run in families? Somehow it seemed less likely that Joel would attend a gym owned by a mutant, or perhaps just that a gym owned by a mutant would operate where Joel was likely to be. But I could be missing the subtleties of the world.

It's fun having a very broadly defined world I can just work my whims inside, to be sure. As for your question: I have avoided being too terribly definitive about this, but as I see it it's kind of like a very recessive genetic anomaly; it's not explicitly confined to families, but if one has it others are more likely to than general population. As for ownership... how often do you meet the owner of the gym you work at? But no, I had rather figured it was a thing where Sandra's sister let Sandra hunt out of family loyalty winning over the icky factor. I deleted a 'postscript' scene with her sister coming to the gym and complaining to the torpid Sandra because I just didn't like the way it ended up sounding.

I'd liked to have seen that epilogue. But seeing as you do not like cleanly defined worlds I'm not surprised the epilogue got canned. :P

i'd like to have seen it too, if only for the digestion scene and hopefully Sandra being embarassed or defensive at her big belly.

You know, I admit, I'm beginning to see why people don't much like mutants. They're less like X-Men, more like something from a science fiction double feature!
ROUND UP THE MUTANTS! Wir müssen die Mutant ausrotten!

To be fair, that's because I only write about the small minority that gets hungry and can't control their own appetites (or don't want to.
To be less fair, MUTANT RIGHTS ARE HUMAN WRONGS

Truth be told, it actually reminds me of an X-Files episode. This Shark-like human has a nigh-uncontrollable hunger for human brains, he works at a fast food restaurant, takes hunger suppressants and watches motivational TV to try and keep himself from going psychopathic, to insist to himself that he is in control of his appetites. He's even seeing a shrink about it.
In the end though, he does a suicide-by-cop with the X-Files agents because he realizes that that kind of lifestyle is wrong and he can't stop himself in any other way. It was a noble death, but also kind of a sad but true commentary on those who have destructive and amoral lifestyles and who KNOW that and wish it were otherwise, but don't have the strength to stop themselves.

That sounds a lot like what (I imagine) pedophiles go through.

Yeah. I can't imagine how awful it must be to have to fight those kinda urges.

A couple proofreading issues, but I just loved this story. A very well described, very classic dominant female predator, doing a just-for-food grab and gulp. Very satisfying :).
The fight scene was great as well. It reminds me of the times I've seen animal predators fight: Whether a spider, a hawk, or a snake, it usually involves the prey flailing wildly for some time while the predator patiently clings/holds it down.
Should I imagine this lizard lady with a snout, furry-style? Also: "stiffening with surprise" what sort of stiffening are we talking about here :3 ?
Also, just curious: How much of Sandra's pleasure was sexual? She seemed to take significantly more enjoyment from Joel than just the culinary type.

Thanks! I did picture her with a bit of a snout; it gives that much more room for a nice long tongue and roomy mouth, after all.
As for the pleasure... well, she *was* a human lady up until sometime in late adolescence, so holding a naked struggling man down in the shower was bound to be at least a bit pleasant than a meal- but once she got a good taste of him it was all business.

I enjoyed reading this. I like how she uses venom to get her way.
