Color version of Obnoxious Celtic Guardian (BW). One of my favorite monsters in the series made good practice for me on tackling my areas of shortcomings. His colors aren't perfect, but I did the best I can (it's not easy getting the exact shade in Photoshop, so close enough is good enough). He could use a little work, but I'm satisfied with the results of my "training".

Anyway, the Obnoxious Celtic Guardian (I love saying his name) is a retrained version of the Normal Monster known as Celtic Guardian. Sadly, despite his cool looks, the Celtic Guardian suffered a lot in the series. One fact is his lower stats for a Level 4 monster (1400 ATK, 1200 DEF), so he was often picked off in Duelist Kingdom. The only time he lasted until the end of a duel was during Yugi's/Yami's duel with Ghost Kaiba, other times, he was picked off pretty quickly. Probably his best moment (before being vaporized) was during Yugi's/Yami's duel with Kaiba during the debut of Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. He was the only attacker strong enough to chop up the decaying Ultimate Dragon yet avoid Crush Card Virus. Sadly, victory wouldn't be his, and was later annihilated by Ultimate Dragon's revive head.

I'm glad they gave him a retrained version, to help out against powerful foes, despite his low stats. Still, he was picked off fairly regularly, much to my displeasure. He is one of my favorite Warrior-type Monsters, but he got kicked around a lot, thanks to low stats. But I still keep one in my deck for old-time sake (and I tend to encounter other duelists with Beatdown-style decks, so he does provide a decent barrier until I get something more powerful on the field).

Also, is it just me, or does Celtic Guardian/Obnoxious Celtic Guardian bear a striking resemblance to Link from LoZ? I never noticed that before until I started playing LoZ a bit. Anyway, hopefully my little elven swordsman gave me some practice on my bad areas.

That's what I always thought. He looked like link from LoZ. When I was a kid and watching yugioh, I'd get mad when he'd come on and lose. I'd be like, "This show is stupid! Link can kill EVERYBODY >:(" *actual quote*

But, still enjoyed the anime :D

I wasn't really exposed to LoZ at the time (as it was usually on a console that I didn't have, like N64) so I never made that connection until later in life. So when I watched Yu-Gi-Oh! for the first time (albeit late, mind you, around late Duelist Kingdom), I loved it and made no connection to Celtic Guardian and Link. Now that I know more about LoZ, I can see the similarities.

But yeah, I enjoyed the anime a lot. Out of all the known Yu-Gi-Oh! animes, the original was the best. I still felt miffed whenever the Celtic Guardian would get his can handed to him, but those were good times. Back when there were actually decent things on TV to watch.

I agree, most cartoons showing are just too....fluffy and childish >.>

Heh, to say the least. I'd rather watch something like NCIS then what's on nowadays, and shows like that make my stomach turn.

Lol, if you can, try to see if you have the HUB channel. HUB might have some shows you like, either that or Boomerang :). HUB has Batman Beyond and Batman the Animated Series :), gotta love those old cartoons, they aren't as censored as the newer cartoons, but aren't bad in that regard either.

Totally agree. That, and they are comprised mainly of teenagers trying to act "funny" when it's all just stupid garbage. When I look back at it all in the 90's and early/mid 00's and see what's on now, I'm sad how much cartoon/kid's shows have just totally degraded into pure garbage..

Yeah, people are afraid of what cartoons will do to their child's fragile little mind..... when all they have to do is talk with older kinds to learn things they should not know until they are much older >.<

I remember my older brother showed me the commercial for it when the first commercial for the anime' aired. The one that caught my eye and got me into the show was of course Celtic Guardian lol.
I always thought that given his card description, Celtic Guardian should have a bit more attack, same goes for Neo the Magic Swordsman. But the artwork Takahashi did for his card in the Anniversary Pack recently makes him look very badass but in the actual duels can't kill shit. It's sad really :d

Yeah, shame he got his can kicked in virtually ever episode he was in. But he's still one of my favorite stalling monsters. Give him a Horn of the Unicorn or Spikeshield with Chain and he's practically untouchable. If you read my stories on DA, you'll be happy to know that he gets much more respect there, even taking out a Barrel Dragon once.

Nice. I looked at the thumbnail and immediately knew who he was. And I haven't touched the darn cards in 3-4 years, lol.

My favorite tactic was to break OCG followed with a card to beef his DEF up to 1900 or higher, making him impossible to destroy by just battle. This gave me time to try forming a offensive strategy in my duels. ...I still a Buster Blader card so I can Fusion Summon Dark Paladin though... XD;

This is actually pretty good, but I do find the cape to be a weird-color. His cape on the card-artwork is indigo (or blue with a slight-tinge of purple), and here it's Vivid Orchid. Aside from that, great work!

Yeah that was a blunder on my part. I was still experimenting with photoshop at the time, so it obviously came out the wrong color due to inexperience. Considering it's one of my favorite cards, you'd think I'd get it right the first time. But I haven't touched the image since then, and I'm too lazy to fix it, so here it sits. But I'm glad you like it other than the cape color.
