Animation for the first round of Cat Food, over on FA. They didn't choose very well and decided that close-range is A-OKAY with Gertrude.
Not that I'm complaining. ;)

Interesting *nods* Sorry, just too late to be eloquent >_>

That's fine. Too late and too tired to read something eloquent. :P

Yeah. I enjoyed that scenario too. :)
Glad you like.

Your animations are so smooth and appealing. Short and sweet. I love'm~
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
I'm really glad I started these two projects, largely for that reason: I'm practicing animation and getting better and faster at them. So it's nice to hear you say that about 'em. :)
Posted by haloronin 11 years ago Report
so what program are you using for your animations bug?
Posted by SolidScale 11 years ago Report
I'm also curious of this!
I've been wanting to give a hand at it myself but haven't found a method that works well with me... or I with it, or whatever other possibly combinations that amount to the same thing.
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
Replied to Haloronin with the technical details. You might be able to use 'em. :)

I draw the frames in SAI and save the file as a .psd. In order for the animation not to look horrifying due to transparency issues, I merge every frame with a white-filled multiplied layer so it's black lines on a white background instead of the default black lines on a transparent background. Once that's done, I move the .psd file over to The Gimp and save it as a .gif animation, setting the speed to about 120 millisecond delay.
A bit technical, but if you know the programs, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Posted by haloronin 11 years ago Report
Ah, awesome, does sound rather simple, but.. then again,, the last animation i made was on corell photopaint 8
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
I'm aware of the program, but I don't know how it works. :)
Posted by haloronin 11 years ago Report
no worrys, i'd send the disk,, but it's useless on vista/7 based systems <.< i need ot find an XP macine
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
And I'm happy with SAI and Gimp anyway. :)
Posted by SolidScale 11 years ago Report
Oh shit, on mention of photoshop, you reminded me that more recent versions of photoshop actually have animation functionality. If you're using Gimp simply to save it as a .gif, I may try and use Photoshop instead to see how well that works.
Though out of curiosity, do you draw your animations frame by frame, or by drawing keyframes first and then filling out the gaps in between to smooth it all out?
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
It can be done either way, but I do it frame-by-frame. I also often duplicate the frames and make adjustments, so it kind of works like Flash the way I do it. But that may not work as well for you, so try both and see which is better.
Also, yeah. You could very well do that with Photoshop if it has that capability. Just be careful with transparency. :)

I hope to give it a try soon enough, and I'll be sure to give you a peek before it's posted~
If I do @_@
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
Sounds good! Do you still have my IM details?
Posted by SolidScale 11 years ago Report
I believe I had you on one of my MSN emails. Should still be on my contact lists I believe.
If not, I could always PM it here or on FA

Hey, I voted for manacles to hold her at a distance. Can't blamd me for this one!
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
That said, any direct attack wouldn't have worked, but it wasn't as catastrophically bad as this set of choices, no. XD
Posted by DiamondDragon 11 years ago Report
Dust cloud, fly, shrink then eat?
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
Would've taken a little more work than that, but it'd work eventually, yeah.
Also? Blueprint: http://aryion.com/g4/view/216424 <- That battle.

Yeah. Was a touch I've been wanting to do for a while. :)

Gertrude is really beginning to grow on me.
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
Rock on. :)
Posted by shrunkenone 11 years ago Report
I think I may commission a set of her, someday. ;)
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
A "set"?
Posted by shrunkenone 11 years ago Report
The usual 3 pic POV set I'm known for. ^.^;
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
Ahhh. I see. But I don't do specified commissions. :P
Posted by shrunkenone 11 years ago Report
Aww. Oh well.
Posted by The_Prof 11 years ago Report
well we've learned one thing from this... Eka's plays to win, but FA just wants to see Sam get eaten
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
Actually, they voted with similar logic that you guys do. The stakes were just higher here.
Posted by The_Prof 11 years ago Report
what is this "logic" you speak of? Is it a food?
Posted by DiamondDragon 11 years ago Report
Technically, we played to see Sam get eaten too, she just was the enemy instead of the PC
Posted by TheFurryFeline 11 years ago Report
Veryyyyy nice! Love it! Makes me wish it was me♥
Posted by Humbug 11 years ago Report
Glad you like it. :3

Thankya! This was the most complicated one I've ever done. :)
