Ok, so Alexandra needed a new tail. Here’s why:

Everyone knows the tail I had been using was a borrowed design from HitomiBoy’s Mae Adeline. I had been clear about that from the beginning. Before I even tested the waters with it, back when I first got the idea of using it, I brought it up to HB, who I was in communications with at the time, who then said he was flattered by it.
When I actually did test it in a sketch, it was to see fan reaction, my own opinion of it actually visualized, and to see if HB would have any sorts of problems with it. He didn’t seem to, the reactions were positive, so I went forward with it. I figured if he had any problem with it, he’d let me know.
Now, by now, the tail has been fairly ingrained in the character, I’ve used it for story stuff and to explain some of the biology of Angels, among other things. Even redid all the Alex RP icons to add it. Yesterday, HB sent me a new PM, asking me to stop using it. Apparently, it’s been making him uncomfortable for a while, and he kindly and politely asked me if I could remove it from Alexandra.

Really quick, I want to make sure this cannot be taken out of context to make it sound like HitomiBoy was doing something unreasonable or like I have any kind of ill will towards him over this. Though I discussed it with him, I never actually specifically asked if he was ok with it. I used his reactions judge the feel and felt, on my end, that he was ok with it since all I ever got was positivity from him over it. That’s my fault. And even if he did say “Yes, definately, go for it.”, people’s feelings change. I don’t blame him for this. Honestly, it goes against my own feelings to blatently use someone elses design for anything, unless it’s some kind of reference. In a way, it was, but it wasn’t subtle. I’ve always thought the tail design was a stroke of simple genius, and I still really love it. I thought of it as paying tribute to his design (Again, I have always made it clear it is HIS design, not mine), but in the end, it made him uncomfortable. I don’t know why, he doesn’t either, but I can certainly understand it.

So instead of removing the tail and back peddling a lot, I opted to design my own. It’s less interesting to look at, imo, and I still don’t like it as much, but it works for the same purposes as the Mae-like one from every angle.

So I hope everyone will like this new design. Also, Alex is going back to short hair since the reason for me making her hair long in the first place essentially doesn’t exist anymore.

While the mini-wings are very visually interesting and distinct, I think the raptor-like feather-fan suits Alex. The fan would perform the same function as the mini-wings, as well as to hide the mouth.

If you're not happy with it, you might try giving the feathers a fork, like the tail of a swallow. It would still have a winglike shape, but be less derivative.
