> Check on Bluebell
You decide to go check on Bluebell, hoping that she hasn't gotten into any trouble. You first wait for Myla to wake, so you can tell her where you're going. "Alright. I'll go find something to wear and catch up." She nods to you, seemingly in a much better mood now. "I still haven't really gotten introduced to the bird anyway. Guess we can do that today." You nod to her before heading out. Making your way to the barracks, you head inside.
You poke your head inside the room where Jates is normally resting. You're met with a pleasant sight. Jates and Bluebell are both peacefully sleeping together. It seems the harpy is behaving herself rather well. "I told you I would look after them." You hear Marcus' voice come up behind you. Turning around, you see he isn't completely dressed yet. Looks like he just woke up. "I think they'll get along just fine. Jates is surprisingly good at keeping her in line. What about you? How did things go with Myla?" You give him a smile, explaining that she seems to have calmed down now. You decide to not tell him about her additional problems though. It's better to not worry him. "That's good. What will you do now?" You tell him that you're not sure yet. For now, you just have to wait for Garrett to return. After that, you'd like to wait for Jates to recover, but you might also do something while waiting for that.
"I see. Jates should be ready to go in about a week. She's recovering quite well." The captain nods to you. "Can I ask you a question though?" You nod to him and he pauses for a moment before continuing. "Are you considering the Commander's job offer?" You tell him that you're not sure yet. "I see. Don't think that I'm trying to dissuade you from it but... When it comes to the Alliance, be careful who you take jobs from. It's no secret that we have plenty of corrupt officials." You ask if he suspects the Commander. He shakes his head. "No. The Commander is a good man but... Well, there have been times when he has been ordered to do less than noble actions. He works hard to fight against the corruption, but there are times when he has to make sacrifices in order to keep his position. And well... I'd have him do that, rather than have someone else in his position." Marcus seems to look up to the Commander. "Just be careful, Floria. As an adventurer, you are able to choose who you work for. Make the right choices."
You decide to mention that you also met a cat-like woman named Kaiti. "Miss Kaiti? Yes, I know her." Marcus nods to you. "Well, I know her father. They seem to be one of the more decent noble families in Erada. You should be able to trust them." He thinks for a moment. "They've been known to be quite helpful for those who assist them. But still, appearances can be decieving. Be careful when you're dealing with nobles of any kind." You nod to him, thanking him for his advice.
You decide to bring up the fact that he had something on his mind yesterday. "Oh. Right." He thinks for a few moments before going to a desk and pulling an envelope out. "I figure you'll be heading to Erada at some point soon, correct?" You admit that it's highly likely, and he hands you the envelope. "I'd ask you to take this to the Primary Guard Office in the capital. Just tell them it's from me. And don't open it, please. You would end up in trouble if you did." You ask him what it is. "A report, mostly. Just guard business. Normally, I'd have a courier deliver it towards the middle of the season, but with everything that's happened recently, I feel that I should send one a bit sooner." You nod to him, assuring him that you'll deliver it.
"Thank you, Floria. I... do have one more favor for you though." You ask him what it is, and he pauses yet again before replying. "Come back to visit sometimes, if you can. I know there's not much here in Malor, but I wouldn't mind seeing you from time to time. Anyway, I need to get dressed and speak with the guards. I'll see you again later." He gives you a smile, heading back into another room. You're honestly a little surprised. Seems Marcus likes you.
Myla enters the barracks a few minutes later, still wearing the bandages over her sizable breasts. "We really gotta find me some actual clothes." She looks at your armor. "Any chance you'd be willing to trade? I mean, didn't you get some armor from Marcus? There's a guy here in Malor that can tailor this stuff." You consider the idea. Might be a good idea. You could also just give Myla the clothes that Marcus gave to you. Though you still don't know what magic effect they have on it. It's almost certainly something postitive, but it would be nice to know.
You hear Bluebell and Jates speaking in the other room and decide to go meet up with them. Jates greets you with a smile. "Oh, hey. I think Bluebell is getting pretty used to things." The harpy certainly seems pretty calm and cheerful. You ask Jates how she did it. "Well uh... I didn't. It was mostly Marcus. I've just been trying to teach her to speak a bit more."
"Jates learn Bluebell!" The harpy speaks up. "Jates talk Bluebell! Jates friend!" She happily chirps as she speaks. Seems she's pretty happy about learning things. Deciding now would be a good time, you properly introduce Bluebell to Myla as a friend. "My... la..? Myla? Myla friend?" You nod to her with a smile. "Myla friend!" Saying that, the harpy calmly moves over to give Myla a hug. She's behaving less suddenly, which is a good thing. She's starting to act like a normal person who is just overly fond of hugs. Well, a normal person who speaks very strangely, at least.
"Heh, yeah. Myla friend." Myla returns the hug. "Where'd you find this weirdo again, Floria?" You quickly explain again how she helped you when you were thrown out into the wild by the bandits. The wolfkin looks you up and down for a moment. "Yeah. She 'helped' you alright. Just make sure she doesn't go around turning the rest of us into birds, alright?" You nod to her, assuring that you'll keep Bluebell under control.
Thinking for a moment, you remember the potions you found at the fortress and show them to Jates, asking if she can identify them. "Oh? Yeah, maybe. Let me see..." She takes the green and silver potions from you, looking at them. She takes a smell of them as well, though based on her reaction, the green one smells unpleasant. "Well, I can say this much. Don't drink the green one. It's a poison. Not sure exactly what type though." She hands that one back to you. "As for the silver one..." She takes a look at it. "It's a Focus Potion. It's usually used by mages or craftsmen to focus on spellcasting or work. It's not that useful for combat though. The mages that use it are more of the uh... scholarly type, I guess. Though if you ever have something happen that screws with your head, then it might help. I think there's spells that can mess with your focus, so this could help then." She hands the potion back to you.
You vaguely remember Jates mentioning that she can identify the magic properties of items, so you ask her about that. "Yeah, I can do that. I mean, as long as it's a fairly simple enchantment." You nod to her, handing her Sofia's Armor to see if she can identify the magic. "This? Hm..." She looks at it for a few moments. "Yeah, it's a simple enchant. Just some magic resistance. The actual armor is light, so I guess you could say this is better for defending against magic. It's not a strong enchantment though." She hands it back to you.
You continue talking with the others for a while to kill time until Garrett shows back up. As midday comes, the centaur finally returns to the barracks. Looks like he was just running a little late after all. With everyone together again, you can finally decide what you want to do. You have about a week before Jates can travel, so that's plenty of time to kill some time. Everyone else seems completely healed up and ready for anything.
-----
Everyone's back together! Now we basically have some choices. We can do a bit of a timeskip till Jates is able to travel, or we can take our current party and do stuff. We could also just leave Jates behind.
Though well, Myla is currently rather underequipped. Might wanna think about giving her some armor and a weapon. :V

Oh How happy and calm moments like these make me smile :D
If only we could keep it like this for a while x3
But id Say we should continue to work on people resting up and letting Myla rest off her potion poisoning more, Got to keep the wuff safe!
We should also keep working with bluebell and getting her More Sentient from Feral.

Now that Bluebell can talk it's time to teach her how to fight and it's time to mod Sophia's Armor for birb use
Posted by TotallyRandom 8 years ago Report
Bluebell survived 21 years in the wild and has feed on armed bandits, she probably knows more about fighting than Floria, espacially in harpy mode. Maybe she could teach us for a change. Some fly-by attack moves would be nice.
Posted by MontyMiyagi2513 8 years ago Report
Your right but does she know how to fight as a team
Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report
Well, considering that she picked up a bandit, dropped her off at the soldiers and took a hit, I'd say, not really. Let's see what she's capable of. We could also test out the ax Marcus gave us (not on Bluebell).
Posted by MontyMiyagi2513 8 years ago Report
I agree Marcus gave us some nice stuff I say we keep them and use them it would be rude not to and in terms of training Bluebell how to fight she knows a simple way of fighting seeing as she was mostly feral now we teach her a little magic if possible since she seems able to use it
Posted by Razgriz 8 years ago Report
We could consider switching to beast-kin, if Myla wants a passenger. Would also unlock a race. Would require Bluebell using her magic on Myla, not to mention teaching Myla how you got this form - which would no doubt anger her.
More seriously, since we seem to be focusing on magic more than anything else, maybe we should make use of a library to improve our stats?
We should encourage Myla to teach Bluebell and Garret a bit more about fighting, too - since she is the most competent fighter we have.

Gift Axe to Myla, too.

A week time skip would be interesting, there are so many things that could be done in a week, let me list off a few.
-The gang can go out and hunt for some meals to help hold them over, gain more experience for the group, and maybe even sell any retrievable pelts from their kills to the tailor who could be able to make whole new outfits for even Myla to wear.
-have the tailor fashion the outfit you currently have to fit Myla perhaps.
-Maybe even scavenge the ruins for more stuff like stone/building materil that could be used to improve Malor.
-Send letters to some of your new friends in Erada to see how they are doing
-Have Jates and Marcus help with teaching Bluebell some more, by getting her used to Malor and it's people, she'll be better prepared to come with us to Erada once Jates is fully healed.
-Do a studying session with Jates using our Stone Tome. That way Floria and, more importantly, Jates could possibly learn stone spells that could help protect themselves, we can't really risk Jates getting hurt again, especially with how long it seems to take for her to recover.
-Have Floria fly over to Erada and deliver the letter from Marcus
-try to get some lewd action goin with Floria, Myla, and Bluebell :3
Basically, this time skip should allow for the group to improve themselves in both experience and financial wise so we can be able to help our group with their problems
Also, I didn't expect this to be out so early, great job dude. :D

Well I say Maylor is pretty much our hub at this point. I think the commander's offer is safe for the first job, and I think we wont have trouble with Kaiti's job, but I'm a bit apprehensive about the reward.
Timeskip, then run errands, Jates to where she needs to go, deliver the report, get Myla purged of potion poisoning, then we can choose which job to go with.
Posted by Thagrahn 8 years ago Report
1) Modify Sofia's armor for Harpy body.
2) Give Myla the leather armor.
3) See if Myla will use the axe.
4) Buy additional equipment as needed.
...
I think a trip to Erada for touching base with our contacts, and better equipment options is a good idea.
Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report
I agree with most of these things, except for number 3. We should test it out first. If it's too awkward for us, then we can give it to Myla.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
We have been using magic to good effect, so it seems like a good idea to specialize in magic and let myla handle close combat.
Posted by RavenXeo 8 years ago Report
Give Myla our old armour and weapon, equip the new stuff and see if we can leave Blue to keep Jates company while we earn mon-mons to get Myla all fixed up.
Posted by Jondo 8 years ago Report
Lets get Sofia's armor fixed up and birbified so we can use it. Marcus gave it to us, and we should be the ones to wear it. While we're at it, give Myla Brother's Axe and our current leather armor.
We promised we would take Jates with us, and Floria's one to keep her word. Well, most of the time. We should wait for her to get better before we leave permanently, but that doesn't mean we should sit around idly. Lets ask Jates how long it will be before she's ready to pack up and leave and promise to be back by the time she's ready to pack up.
In the meantime, we should go to Erada for information. Lets get in touch with Gina and the Doc first then see if we can find Kaiti.
Posted by Jondo 8 years ago Report
Gina might have information we need to fix Myla's potion poisoning, and Kaiti might have a job for us to earn some money.

Okay, so we are probably staying in Malor for the next week. We are going to have to get Bluebell accustomed to regular food soon, but for now, we could help feed her through a couple of hunting trips in the woods nearby (nowhere far, just like maybe an hour or two into the forest). There are bound to be some critters (i.e. rabbits, squirells, deer, etc.) for us to feed her and it will help Bluebell get used to working together as a team through this hunting. My idea is we start out with live, then move onto recently cooked, and then to maybe a day old so that she will be more alright with eatting food not necessaryily fresh. We should also take Myla so we can help her get back into the groove of things, be there if anything goes wrong, and have her bond a bit with Bluebell. I don't think it would be good if Bluebell figured out that Myla is a herm, with Blue not fully understanding consent right now. We could ask Blue if she would be willing to teach us how she did that unbirth magic so that we could do it and teach it to our companions if they are interested (who knows, maybe Myla would be alright with a wolfkin Floria). It could be a useful thing to learn.
Posted by TotallyRandom 8 years ago Report
We could have Garret carry Jates to Erada. Floria still has a flat there, so Jates could finish her recovery there, while the rest gets some stuff done, like delivering that letter, getting tested by Doc Mitchell, visit Kaiti(it's a trap), etc.
Today we should find a tailor, who could birbfy the light armor and modify the leather armor for Myla. We could look for some harpy weapons in the market, but I doubt we find some in Malor. Give the axe to Myla, she could probably make better use of it, than we. Tell her that the axe was owned by Marcus late brother.
Posted by Kartomic 8 years ago Report
Give Myla the axe, and get the magic resist armor tailored for her. As our tank, she'll need all the resistances we can give her.
Initiate timeskip, and during it; study with Jates, teaching her a few defensive spells and learning a bit more about alchemy, practice flight endurance training to stay in the air for longer periods of time, and think about delivering that letter to the commander carrier pigeon style.
If we do pop by the Capitol, talk to the doc about the new body, and his daughter about unbirth, and possibly learning how to use it to heal people.

Floria: "I woke up like this!"
First of all I'm not a fan of time skips. Any time one of those happens in an anime I'm like, gawd dang it.
I would like to visit Erada without Jates and then come back and give Jates a present from Erada. That would be cute. :3
We can leave her and be like we'll bring you something back, yo. She has her inn at Malor, she can do stuff there.
While in Erada we can talk to the doctor, and inquire about Gina's potion shop job opening if it's still there. :U
But before we head to Erada let's go shoppiiiing~!
Yo, we should also ask if we're entitled to some bounty cash for dealing with Edris. We got a reward for dealing with Nysk so I think we're entitled to some Edris money. Unless we already got some. :v
If we did that before we went to the shop we could buy some phat loot with our phat wad o' cash.
So bounty collection, then shopping, then promising a gift to Jates, then heading to Erada, Something like that.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
We should also really visit our house in Erada. It's probably overrun with a rat vs. cockroach civil war at this point.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
Also if Gina's potion shop job opening has been filled there are always ways to... un-fill it. >:v
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
In regards to the money, Marcus told us he wanted to give us something, but there is nothing left.
It's incredibly easy to miss things that were in one off lines.
If Edris had a bounty maybe an amount would have been set aside, but Edris was a no name bandit before this so she didn't have a standing bounty.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
We should still claim a bounty from them, and say it's a debt that they owe us. All of the other alliance soldiers got paid, and we did the brunt of the work.
They can pay us it as they collect it in taxes. Again, why isn't debt a thing in this world? I mean they're using gold, so it's a capitalist economy, ergo debt should exist.
It's like earlier when the doctor was like "I need the money to pay my friend right now I can't just say I owe him it!", like what, that's not how money works, a total absence of any kind of debt system.
So yeah, I say we get them to write us an IOU, otherwise Floria is just going to be a lapdog for the Alliance doing all of their work for free while we have to be out of pocket for helping them out.
I mean, we're going to struggle to get decent equipment and we'll have to work for money and stuff, they should really just pay us. It's only fair.
Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report
Debt is a thing in this world. The thing with the doctor was a bit of a special case. (Mitchell's "friend" knows that Mitchell often works for free, and he wanted his money sooner, rather than eventually. Mitchell doesn't have tons of money. :V)
Just bring this up with the Alliance when we go to see them. Just cause the debt isn't mentioned doesn't mean it doesn't exist. :V
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
I mean, besides being an adventurer we're technically working as a sellsword also. Part of being a sellsword is negotiating rates and chasing up debts, otherwise Floria is going to be a doormat with the whole town walking all over her while she keeps a dumb smile on her face like this is all fair treatment.
We're really, dangerously short of money right now, and we need enough to strike out of our own and progress further into the world. We can't do that until we make some decent gold.
The only way we can increase our gold, instead of it steadily declining as it has been doing lately, is to be a little more demanding with our allies, just getting what we deserve for a job well done, financially speaking.
It's all well and good to be the 'good guy' until you need some food, equipment, and shelter, then you're a good, starving guy... like Gandhi was for a bit. :p
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
For the last thing, we eat people. I don't see hunger staying a problem for long.
Edris never had a bounty; we just went with the soldiers to rescue Myla and get revenge.
Or at least, that's what they'll say. If we pursue a reward for Edris, they will have excuse enough to turn us down and we will have lost any goodwill we had with them, which could cost us a great deal of gold in the future.
From this point forward we have no reason to work unless we get paid for it, so this will not be a repeating occurrence. Unfortunately for our coin purse we had to join this fight, so we didn't negotiate the price.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
If that's really the case, the goodwill thing, they're pulling the same card all people pull when they take advantage of people working for free.
They're telling us, essentially, if you do free work for us, risking your life and the life of your whole party by standing toe to toe with magic crystal lady, for zero gold, while all our back-up dancers get paid handsomely for being mostly useless cannon fodder, we might be so kind as to offer you paid work in the future!
This is our litmus test with the Alliance. We tell them right now, pay us fairly for the work we already did. You guys needed Edris down more than we did. We saved your asses and we didn't do it pro-rata.
We'll retroactively negotiate a price, and if they refuse then we know the Alliance are just taking advantage of us. If that's the case we can not reasonably expect them to ever treat us fairly in any work we do for them in the future.
Ergo, either they pay us for this or we don't work for them again, ever, unless it's just a bounty they posted on the wall so we know payment is promised in advanced, on paper and everything.
It's just compensation, they owe us compensation for all of the men Edris would have killed, but didn't, solely because we were there to put an end to her reign of tyranny.
I'm beginning to think the reason worked for Nysk is that the Alliance has a bad track record with compensating their 'recruits' fairly. Nysk seemed like the kind of gal to pay on time, and pay a good salary. Probably health benefits and the like, too. I wouldn't be surprised if she gave her bandits a pension.
We should be like, a morally 'chaotic good' version of Nysk. Start our own faction, treat everyone decently. Then everyone will flock to us and away from those 'It's for the common good and stuff!' butt-wipes.
I can see Floria running her own benevolent mercenary company someday. That's kind of the logical progression of our current party structure, and the inevitable beef we'll develop with the Alliance over whatever wool they're trying to pull over our eyes.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
Don't forget that we started a fight with Edris on our own. It was our fight, probably more than the alliances.
If we hadn't had the grudge with Edris before hand, I would be with you. However, since we already needed to fight Edris, the soldiers did as much for us as we did for them.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
Nope, before Edris had a grudge with us, she worked for Nysk, who had a grudge with the Alliance and had Malor under her thumb before we even showed up.
Edris was not one person, she was part of a group, a group that existed long before we arrived in Malor, a group that had Malor hostage.
By fighting Edris, we just continued the same task as when we were fighting Nysk, we were fighting the same group both times, only the second time we finished the job and broke their little gang up.
So it doesn't make sense to pay us for Nysk, and then not pay us for Edris. Especially when the fight with Edris was way tougher and almost killed us and our party multiple times, while the Alliance stooges were standing way back to let us do most of the fighting ourselves. Again, they all got paid, so we should too.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
If they were the same task then we did get paid for fighting Edris when we got paid Nysks bounty.
The alliance did not ask us for help, so why should they pay us? We did help the situation, but that doesn't obligate them to give us anything but thanks and good will, which they have given us.
It's like saving someone from a burning building and then asking them to pay you. It would be understandable if they paid you on their own out of thanks, but they are not obligated to do so and asking them for money would probably give them a bad opinion of you.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
Their opinion doesn't matter if it's a totally unjustified opinion. If they go around making up excuses not to pay their volunteers the same they pay their soldiers, when the volunteers are at greater risk than their soldiers, then they're a terrible faction that we should not work with.
Nysk's bounty does not cover taking down two bandit leaders, what you would do is split Nysk's bounty in half. So we're getting paid half of that bounty per bandit leader, that's a pittance, that's a lot less than all of the other soldiers were getting paid for standing idly by, watching us do their jobs for them.
Whether or not the alliance asked for our help is irrelevant, the matter at hand is that they paid everyone else who was there with us on that day, even though we did what they were supposed to do for them.
So the burning building analogy actually works like this:
The fire department calls you up and says, hey random guy, our firemen are too scared to go into this burning building, so go into it and rescue everyone for them. For free. But we'll still pay the firefighters, even though you did their job for them.
Clearly we're being played by the Alliance like a fiddle if we don't get paid fairly for breaking up a bandit gang that had everyone in Malor enslaved before we showed up.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
If they had called us up then you might be right, but we asked to go along of our own free will for our own purposes. Everyone else was required to be there.
If you do good that no one asked you to do, then getting paid is reasonable but not required.
My analogy still seems appropriate.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
We aren't asking the person we saved from the burning building to pay us, so it's a stupid analogy. You're basically saying we're demanding that Myla pay us for us rescuing her. That's totally not what I'm saying.
The Alliance, the firefighters, had a duty to save Myla. We fulfilled that duty for them, so we are entitled to the reward they would have gotten for fulfilling that duty. They got that reward, for the work that we did, so they stole that money from us.
Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report
They never had a duty to save Myla. They were there to capture bandits and find out any information about the "ancient". Myla was a secondary objective to them.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
They had a duty to save Myla and what you claim to be their 'objectives' is totally separate to their duty.
If I have a duty to do something, and I don't make it an objective, then I've just failed in fulfilling said duty.
They have a duty to save Myla because they're protecting the town and every law abiding citizen, aren't they? They employ the guards and soldiers sworn to protect Malor from the bandits.
If the bandits kidnap anyone, they're obliged to save them, with or without our help. Because it's their job, and we mostly did it for them, they didn't do our job for us.
Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report
Technically, Myla isn't exactly "law abiding" (former bandit) or a citizen of the Alliance (her hometown is in the Kingdom of Mesai). :V
But that's just me being overly specific. Myla was one of the Alliance's objectives at the fortress. Hostages are always a primary objective. It might not have been the primary reason they were called out, but it doesn't change that it was an important part of the battle.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
It's like saying, "Those cops didn't have to rescue those hostages, they were just there to confiscate some marijuana. So the kind hero who picked up the slack in saving the hostages deserves no reward at all."
It's completely ignoring that they're police officers, not a gang. Unlike the bandits they have a duty to protect people, including Myla.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
Here's a very easy way they can pay us fairly, that shoots down any excuse they have:
Fire one soldier who didn't pull their weight in the fight against Edris. Then the cost of keeping them employed can be used to pay us instead.
It's only fair considering we took on someone else's workload, we also deserve their pay with that. We did something that the alliance would have attempted to do without us even being there. Something the guys who watched us do it got paid handsomely for, while we got nothing, for breaking up an entire gang, putting in more effort and risk than any of our allies that were there.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
try imagining that line of reasoning in a different setting, keeping in mind no made us do it. Think it over for a bit.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
A guy who did nothing but stand in the background thirty feet away is getting paid more than the girl who single-handedly broke up an entire gang in one day. If we weren't there that entire army would have been wiped out and they knew it. We are valuable to them and if they want to keep us they need to pay for the privilege.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
By single-handedly I of course mean, her and her party, as we're all one entity sharing one lot of money. The Alliance offered support, so that entitles to some of the reward, but they did a small amount of work and hogged all of the reward from us. That's theft.
Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report
The Alliance military took an active part in the battle. While there weren't many who fought against Edris, the rest of them were busy with the other bandits in the fortress, either fighting them or securing those who surrendered.
Yes, we took down the "big bad", but we shouldn't say that the soldiers did nothing. :V
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
Oh yeah, and by the way, there's a very obvious reason why Nysk's bounty does not also cover Edris' bounty, not to mention the bounty of every other bandit we brought to justice the same day as Edris.
If we had taken Nysk's bounty, and then not pursued Edris, we would still have Nysk's bounty. That's because Nysk's bounty was solely for dealing with Nysk, not for dealing with Edris.
It would only count for both Edris and Nysk if the Alliance said "If you don't go after Nysk's successor after taking down Nysk, we will not give you this bounty, or you'll have to pay it back to us.", so that makes literally zero sense.

Sigh... Give it up. The government has the gold, and the troops, and no desire to pay us. We just can't win this argument. Take it as a lesson for next time when we will demand something in writing, but this time is just a lesson learned.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
We're bringing it up with the Alliance, first opportunity we get. Either we get paid or we don't work for them. I'm not roleplaying as a sucker who risks their life for free unlike some people.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
That is, if we don't get paid for what we *already* did, we take our business elsewhere. Regardless of whether or not they want to pay us for the next gig, if they don't pay us for the one we already did, there won't be a next gig with these guys.
Posted by Jondo 8 years ago Report
You've got a really good point. These Alliance soldiers wouldn't have been able to take down Edris without us. Yeh, they didn't ask us to come along directly, but Floria and co are the reason this battle ended with minimal loss of life. Imo, this battle was more important for the Alliance than the Nysk fight. With Nysk, we took out the leader, but a new leader can always spring up and take there place. With this fight, we destroyed the bandit problem, and they won't be organizing again for a long time.
Your point might also explain another question I've been having. Marcus has been really good to us, and he seems smart. Or at least smarter than our group. Might be he sees what the Alliance has done to us, and he's been trying to make things right in his own way. He can't pay us what we are owed because he doesn't have the authority or the funds. Instead, he gives us what he does have.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
In fact we also had a grudge with Nysk prior to fighting her, if you remember, but we still got paid anyway. We were fighting her because she wanted us dead for killing Konic. The Edris beef really started way back with the death of Konic, which is when we first got involved in this Bandit Vs. Alliance thing.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
I also hate Marcus' attitude of "We would pay you but we don't want to, sorry!", because they could definitely find a way to pay us, even if it's in a long time or in instalments or something, they're explicitly choosing not to pay us. They do not value us unless they pay us as they have done everyone else involved.
By saying "We don't want to pay you this time!", he's implying that when we were paid for fighting Nysk, that was just a nice favour on their part, that it was optional, they paid us out of the kindness of their hearts. They need to realise that they don't choose what they owe us, we've already established, after Nysk, that if we take down a bandit leader we get paid, regardless of how they feel about it.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
Nysk had a bounty and we agreed before hand that we would get money.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
Although that is true it doesn't justify not getting paid again for doing the exact same thing. Marcus even stated "We WOULD pay you", meaning, he knows that they should pay us. They just "can't", which really means they don't want to, because they could easily find a way to pay us. They can get the money from somewhere, even if it's from cutting expenses of their own to cover our reward.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
Speaking of bounties we should check the bounties that are going in Malor and Erada. That would be a feckin' fun way to make some money. Frontier justice!
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
That's also how we can help the Alliance out without joining them. We don't want to blindly swear allegiance to any one particular faction, only because we want to maintain Floria's agency.
If we're just chasing down bounties they put up, we can track their bounties, as well as other factions' bounties, all without having to side with anyone when poop hits the fan and the factions all start warring with each other, inevitably.

What we really need in this game is a lawyer or an agent who can deal with cheapskates such as The Alliance. Jates would be really good at that job, actually. That would give her something productive to do while she hangs out at Malor... get our bounty out of the Alliance. Make the case of payment on our behalf. In return, she gets a cut of it as our new debt collector and payment negotiator.
Jates would be really good at that actually, she must have really high charisma for working at an inn at the front desk for, what I assume is most of her life.

*runs to forest and looks around for a bit*
You sure there's time to kill? What's it look like? I mean we do have plenty of time to waste searc-......oh....>.>
xP
On a more serious note: We should probably not just time skip, as much as that'd get us to adventure faster, it probably won't be as effective at allowing us to prepare for it as taking the time to actually plan out the week.
For example, we could look around town for people needing help to make a little cash, which we can then spend on equipment, spell tomes, potions, etc.
While time skipping might give us a little equipment and potions, at best, since we'd just be waiting around not doing anything specific.
I'd say focus on equipment near the end of the week so we can spend time on more time consuming tasks, such as reading spell tomes, asking around for advice from magic users, and spending time with the party to help our 'teamwork'. *wink wink*
So: Explore town, look for people who might need small tasks done, look for spell tomes, look for people willing to help us learn magic, make sure not to ignore our friends, and finally, get equipment.
That is the order I would personally go in.

We could always gear up and get Myla geared up as well and check out the mine that was being talked about so much when we first got here.

I glad nothing happen to Garrett back in healthy condition. Well, I say go to the tailor get some clothes for you and Myla. While at it bring Bluebell out with yeah to help develop her.
Posted by The-Lonely-Gamefreak 8 years ago Report
Alright, let's keep Sofia's armor for ourselves and give Myla our current armor. Of course, best to head to a tailor for such things to fit us. See if Myla would prefer the axe as well; better than nothing at the moment.
Then perhaps we can see if there are local jobs to be done that we can do; of the adventurous type of course. :p Stick around a few days to let Myla mentally recover before checking out the ruins nearby? We'll be down a healer, but a quick sweep of a few rooms by the entrance should do nicely, no?

That reminds me of how in The Princess Bride, that guy became immune to a certain poison by taking it in small enough doses over a long period of time.
So then he gave both himself and his opponent the same poison to consume, lying by saying only one of them was poison. This killed his opponent because he was immune, and he wasn't.
So, taking small sips of poison can actually be a good idea. You were kind of on to something there.
But sipping an unknown poison, I wouldn't do that. We should take small sips to develop poison immunity on identified poisons though, because someone can then tell us what a safe dose of that poison is.
If it's an unknown poison, we don't know the safe dose, so we can't take a safe sip of it. :v

fool I was referencing the Princess Bride with that. After all for a person to come up with that idea without referencing Princess Bride would be INCONCEIVABLE!

We should visit the taylor, to get the armor to suit us, give the Bandit Axe to Myla and get better equpment to the party. What was left of the dresses and stuffs we had? we should make sure the gear of everyone is aproppriate. If Jates is going to do some adventuring, she can't go nto the wilderness dressed as a innkeeper. Light, tiny armor for Jates is a must.
Lastly, we don't know the full extent of Bluebell'smagical powers. Does she have any other spells besides the Birbify UB spell? Maybe we should show Bluebell a small magic show again to see if she wants to show us what she can do.
As soon as Bluebell learns how to speak, she could even teach us some spells we don't know, if she happens to know any more of them.

I would like to say, I love the second panel! They look adorable together!
OK, on to our "To Do List":
1) Get Myla and Floria tailored for their new armor (Floria with Sofia's Armor, Myla with leather).
2) Test out Bluebell in combat, as well as our ax we got. If it's too difficult to use, then lets give it to Myla (giving away an item without using it, come on).
3) Keep teaching Bluebell how to act in public. We can come up with some kind of reward system for her.
4) Ask Myla why she wasn't as rough as the first time with us.
5) Lets teach Myla how to read. She can learn with Bluebell.
6) And finally, we should check out the mine-shaft that's here. Who are the people that have taken it over and see if there's anything we can do. If we find any ore's, we might be able to keep them. The blacksmith in Erada City told us (way back at the start of ARPG) that if we find any ore's, we could bring them to him and he would buy them.
Questions:
1) Should we pay back Jates for all the nights we've spent at her Inn? Until she sells it, she still owns it.
2) Can Jates be healed using a health potion, or at the least, help it go faster?
Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report
Gonna follow the flock here and pick the full agreement option. ^_~
Although, can we check beforehand if it's possible for us to enter the mine? Isn't it technically owned by someone else?
Also need to buy miners picks or practice digging/separating minerals using magic.
No time skips, since that'll allow for more party interaction.
Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report
That's why I'm who's in charge of the mine and if we could help at all.
Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report
7) Help Jates pack her things.
8) Go buy new cloths for both Floria and Myla. We can get a dress, while Myla can get what she wants (I kind of want to see Myla in a dress as well, but it might be a bit of a problem with her appendage).
Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report
Oh my god, someone remembers the blacksmith in Erada! I figured everyone had forgotten about him. :V
As for yer questions:
1. You'll have to ask Jates about that. :V
2. Not really. She's basically already under medical treatment. Adding potions to it might just cause problems.
As a side note, when a character gets nearly dead like Jates (and technically Bluebell), recovery takes much longer than normal. Bluebell didn't need much recovery time due to her getting revived in a unique way. :V

(Stretches a bit) Oh well best not to dwell on it too much.

Yeah there are a TON of ways we can go with this. Whether are not it is by time skip is fine by me. Really, I'm pretty much okay with what everyone has said here: tailor, get Myla clothes/give her armor, train with Bluebell, etc and a bunch of other stuff. It would be interesting to see how Garrett reacts with Bluebell now, especially since Bluebell is able to speak a little more. Also, let's not forget that elf final conversion into floof :) Happy times are best times (for now).

goal: get Myla recovered. We need unknown, but likely large, amount of gold for that. So we are on the hunt for any chance to earn coin.
We have some other plans that also need money, which is all the more reason to look for loot.
Short term plan: Dig up loot at fort.
Today, we get useful supplies, and head out tomorrow We spend one, maybe two, digging around, before we head back to town. We could find a lot, or nothing, but it's the closest easy chance.
We stick around town until Jates can ride and/or be carried to the city. Work on selling the inn and any other local jobs we can find.
Once we do reach the city, we report to the commander. Keep the captain's warning in mind, but we are pretty likely to say yes since we need the gold.
And of course, we need to keep educating Bluebell. We may be doing that for a year.
Posted by Apostolos 8 years ago Report
Keep the stuff that Marcus gave you and wear it yourself and ask if she would mind wearing your current clothes after explaining they were a gift from Marcus to you and he might get mad seeing you turn around and give both the weapon and clothing to Myla
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
I recommend not training Bluebell any further. I figure she'll catch on to normal behavior over time, but we have no need to rush that.
I mean, we almost have her acting like a normal person; and who wants that? Normal people are boring and predictable, so why wouldn't we want a more lively less predictable character who gets us into trouble that interrupts are dull routine?
Quite frankly I would have preferred not educating her at all and letting her learn as we went, but I guess this would be a fine middle ground.
Posted by AtmosRobot 8 years ago Report
We should see if there is a good tailor in the area to get Sofia's Armor fitted. While we're out and about, let's ask the residents of Malor if they know anything about the ruins outside of town. Maybe Bluebell knows about the ruins?

After shopping to get everyone equipped, I would suggest spending the week earning money in some adventurous way.
As to how to earn money, I would recommend anything that is both adventurous and reasonably sure to succeed. Perhaps talk to the commander and see what kind of work he wants us to do.
We should not embark on a long journey before Jates is recovered, and doing anything that means we'll be eaten without seeing Jates eaten first doesn't have my vote either.
Most of all, We should do something adventurous. Although, if we want to do a time skip we could probably go to the mine and get a whole bunch of ore for that old man from update 3. Maybe mine it everyday for a week and sell it when we get to Erada, then go shopping and find our next adventure.
Posted by Jogoon 8 years ago Report
We should definitely stay to wait for Jates to heal. The real question is what should we do while we wait.
The first thing we should do is get the party reequipped. Start by offering Myla the axe, then see if Jates, Garret, or Bluebell want any armor or new weapons. Then head to the market, with whoever whats to tag along, to get what everybody wants, retailor the leather armor to fit Myla, and refit the enchanted armor for us.
While doing this, or afterwards, talk to our companions about some possible options for things we could do while we wait for Jates to heal. See what their thoughts on them are before making a choice.
One option, with these four members we could make a trip to Erada and make it back before Jates has recovered, so that we can more quickly move on with our adventure when she is ready. But this would mean that Jates would not have an opportunity to visit the city.
Another option, we could take the party out hunting in the woods. This could build our experience, teach us some new and useful hunting skills, and make us some money if we can find something that is worth selling. Unfortunately, Bluebell and maybe Myla are likely the only members who would have any knowledge of this right now.(this suggested option was inspired by JiklokEmisaryOfSteel suggestions in any earlier post)
I am sure there are some others but those are the first to come to mind, and i have rambled on for long enough.(One more thing, what ever we do after getting reequipped, there should be more lewds with woof and the blue birb. Maybe together even?)
A side note, I was looking at the party member page when I realized that Floria is the oldest member of our party right now at 24 years old, which surprised me. Something made me think Myla was older than us.
Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report
I seriously like the idea of hunting game (and/or bandits) in the woods around Malor. It'll be a good, bonding party activity. Bluebell will likely teach us a thing or two, too. ^_^
