> Look for work
You decide that it would be best to wait for Jates before moving onward too much. But at the same time, you don't want to just sit around. First though, you need to take care of some chores.
You get all your armor fitted, taking Sofia's Armor for yourself, and giving the Light Leather Harness to Myla. Thankfully, it doesn't cost much to do that.
After a few quick tests to see who would be better with it, you give up the Brother's Axe to Myla. You also take the Flame Tome from Jate's bookshelf, with her permission. She did request that you not lose this one though.
With your party decently equipped, you decide to go talk to Marcus about potential work in and around Malor. You meet him in the barracks.
"You're looking for work?" He thinks for a few moments. "There isn't a lot around here really. There's the mine up north, but there's no telling if they would have any work at all. Your best bet would probably be to look around in Erada. I wouldn't take work from the Alliance yet though. They usually have deadlines on their jobs, and it's possible that it would have you travelling quite some distance." He thinks for a few more moments. "Oh, there is one thing around here though. A crew is coming to to clean up the old fortress. Getting rid of some of the rubble and knocking down what's left. We don't really want to leave anything around for more bandits to use as a base again. You could join them. I figure they could use some guards, just to scare off any beasts that might wander near. They're supposed to arrive tomorrow morning, I believe. I have no idea how well they pay though."
While you're thinking about your options, you are suddenly approached by Bluebell, who has a confused look on her face. "Floria?" She seems to be wanting to ask you something. "Floria friend Bluebell. Garrett friend Bluebell." She thinks for a moment, trying to figure out how to say things. "Floria Bluebell..." She makes motions towards your pants. After some more motions and more questioning, you figure out that she's confused. If you are a friend to her, and Garrett is also a friend to her, then why can she only perform lewd acts with you? You think for a moment before explaining that you are lovers. Explaining that she would need to ask Garrett to be a lover if she wanted to do those things with him. "Floria lover Bluebell?" You nod to her, also deciding to tell her that you and Myla are also lovers. "Floria lover Myla?" You nod to her again and she thinks for a moment. "Bluebell... lover Myla?" You explain to her that she'd need to ask Myla first. Until then, they are just friends, just like with Garrett and anyone else. She considers something for a few moments before giving you a happy chirp and a nod. The harpy suddenly turns around, heading off towards the inn. You decide it probably best to follow her.
You lose her for a moment, but checking the rooms, you find her in Myla's room, standing close to the wolfkin. "Myla lover Bluebell?" She persistently asks with a smile. "Myla lover Floria! Floria lover Bluebell! Bluebell lover Myla!" Myla gives you an irritated look as you enter the room.
"What the hell is the bird trying to say?" The wolfkin asks. "She just burst in here yelling about lovers and shit." You quickly try to explain everything, and that Bluebell is trying to ask Myla to be her lover. "Wait so... When she's talking about you, then she means..." She sighs as she realizes. "You really do flirt with everything you meet." She turns back to the insistant harpy. "Which is honestly a lot better than... this. She's just trying to skip the flirting alltogether!" You admit that she's a bit... excitable when it comes to this sort of thing. You do remind Myla that she seemed okay with the idea of a threesome before, so long as everyone is consenting. And that Bluebell is more than consenting. "Gods, you're a pervert." Bluebell continues to pester her for an answer. "Alright, fine! But not all the time, alright? Don't go just jumping on me when you're in the mood." The harpy gives a happy chirp again, hugging Myla tightly. You admit a little surprise that she gave in so easily. "Yeah, well shut up. I'm blaming you. You're an awful influence." You take mild offense to that, even if it is probably true.
Bluebell happily releases her hug from Myla, and suddenly heads out of the room, based on the sound, it seems like she's going to Garrett's room to ask him the same question. As much as you want to chase the harpy around, you figure that Garrett will be fine.
Looks like you still have to decide what you want to do. You have time to do stuff today as it's still early afternoon. You'll have to wait for tomorrow if you want to help with the crew taking care of the wreckage at the old fortress though. And it does look like you potentially have some more fun with Bluebell and Myla.

Okay, all "chores" done I think. Now we just gotta decide our next course of action. :V
Find work in Erada, head to the mines, or wait for the fortress crew.

why on earth would we want to prevent that? She knows enough not to grab random citizens so she won't trouble the law, and anything she would do now seems like something we don't mind at all.

And maybe practice flying as well.

Okay, process of elimination time.
The Alliance still hasn't compensated us fairly for our going above and beyond the call of duty in taking down Edris. We certainly deserved more than 0 gold.
With that in mind, we shouldn't do anything for their benefit until they pay us what they owe us. "Good will" doesn't cover our expenses, especially not form giant factions that can afford to pay us for putting our lives on the line to do a large part of their job for them. Something they could not have achieved without us.
As for having fun with Bluebell and Myla, I guess we could do that. We're kind of slacking at this point if we just have sex all day two days in a row. Lewds become a chore after long enough.
As for Erada, I don't really want to leave Jates behind unless we really have to to make some money. Our priority right now is making money but if we can do it in Malor, without being taken advantage of by the Alliance (who don't seem keen on paying us), then we should.
For that reason I say we go to the mine and see if there's any work for us. We could ask the miners questions about all of the different minerals and deposits and things, including those weird blue crystals so that we can maybe find the proper name for them instead of calling them... blue crystals. We would be earning and learning!
If the mine doesn't have any work for us, after we check, we should just head to Erada for work. We can bring Jates back a gift from Erada when we're done there.
We should make our party members chip in with any work we do for money, more workers means more money for our group. So we're all working today, ladies and Garrett! Especially Garrett. I'm not stereotyping or anything but, he is a horse, and horses work.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
I think we should at least ask the fortress crew to promise us payment in advance for helping them clean up the fortress site. But we shouldn't wait for them, that's a waste of time. We can do stuff in that time, such as checking out the mines, looking for other work, etc.
If they can't promise us payment when we ask them about it, we don't go with them. The Alliance is not a charity, it doesn't need volunteers. We have our own needs to attend to. Mainly making back all of the Gold we pissed away at this point.
Posted by PowerPigeon 8 years ago Report
However if they can guarantee us payment for cleaning up, *before* we head there, then we should totally do that. Any work that is guaranteed to pay is good work, No more slave labour, though.

Dang, Bluebell digests fast.
If we go with the Fortress crew, do we have a chance to recover any of our lost possessions? If not, I say we talk to Jates about how long she thinks it'll be before she recovers , promise to be beack when she's recovered, and head to Erada. I'd like to meet up with Gina and/or Kaiti.

Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
Bluebell will learn as we go, and she is already more normal than I would like.
Lets not rush the process of teaching Bluebell to act like a normal person, since a normal person is far less interesting.
Posted by Thagrahn 8 years ago Report
Okay, how long would a trip to the mine actually take? Could we be back in the morning to meet with the crew cleaning up the fortress?
If we can't make it to the mine, back, and rest before the fortress cleaning crew gets to Malor, we close one option for work just looking for more.
We should see if we can learn any additional spells from our tomes, and see how thing work out for Bluebell. (Jates is likely to stay on the friend only list.)
Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report
My thought exactly. We could ask our friends to watch Bluebell while we flew to the mine (I'd rather not bring Bluebell because we'll be talking business with the people there and won't exactly be able to keep an eye on Bluebell. Not that I don't trust her, it more the people there might see her as a threat). I do agree with PowerPigeon on the money part, we're running a little low.
If Myla's up for it, then I see no problem with lewds. Bluebell's going to get a bit of a surprise, although I don't think she'll mind. We should'nt do it all the time though, it'll lose its touch after a while. We'll need to space it out.
Oh, we should check on Garrett before we leave, see if he's OK and not having a panic attack because of what Bluebell said.

Though, I want to help with the rubble thing, too. Should we depart to the mines, how long would it take us to go, finish up work and ome back to Malor?

The way this post was written, it sounded like Bluebell barged in on Floria and Marcus's conversation to ask about lovers. It seemed really weird.
Since there's still some daylight, let's scout out the mine up north and see if they have anything interesting. Better than just sitting around doing fuckall.
Don't worry, we can have our threesome in the evening.

Discuss the wreckage cleanup with the rest of the party and see what they want to do. Though Myla may perhaps not wish to return there even if it is in rubbles; though, seeing the place where she was enslaved be nothing more than rubble may please her.
After a quick meeting about that, might be best to go train some more and have Myla break in that axe!

Posted by davidargall 8 years ago Report
Well, we have to help the fortress crew. There is a chance they will find a lot of stuff. Some of it might be ours so we are watching the workers in more than one way.
The basic plan would be Flo and Bluebell flying more distant scouting. Still close enough to fly in for support and to warn, but still the most distant. Myla and Garrett stay in close to the workers,as said making sure they don't steal anything as much as protecting them. If Jates can safely be moved, we carry her along to watch over things too. Her duties will just be watching, but an extra pair of eyes could be useful. Her chief duty is getting better, but just loafing in bed is not good for recovery.
Tell Myla we don't flirt with everything, at least not quite, but we want everybody to be happy, and this is a start that way. If there is somebody she doesn't want us flirting with, please let us know, because we certainly don't want to make her unhappy.
In general, encourage everybody to bang everybody.
We check on the mine, but the fort has priority.
We keep up Bluebell's lessons, and keep an eye on her. It's possible she is more dangerous half-educated than just ignorant. and make sure she is fully fed.
In any free time, we try to study the flame tome. One assumes that gives us a chance to do more damage to the foe.
Posted by DeityV 8 years ago Report
Honestly, Floria could probably take care of that fortress really quick. Just fly up there, drop a few rockbombs for demolition, and fly back. Might as well take advantage of her flight and magic skills. Myla vs Bluebell: who will outlast who? I'm sure Myla will welcome Bluebell's advances. And I agree letting Garrett handle Bluebell by himself this time. He should be fine this go around. Besides, Bluebell is able to communicate much more effectively than she used to.
Posted by Jogoon 8 years ago Report
We should wait for the crew in the morning. But today, we should see if Bluebell can teach us anything. She may be able to help us learn about our harpy body, since we are still kind of new to it. She could also teach us how to find food in the forest, since she lived out there for 20 years.
I also still think we should try to learn to hunt. with a party as large as ours, with appetites as large as our party member's are, the food source is going to be an issue we will have to face. Learning to hunt and forage could help with that.

Just putting this out there 'cause I feel like it......You might want to 'filter' future character's should Floria die, at least a bit. Otherwise we'll end up with nothing but perverted sex offenders each time.
But it's the internet, what'cha gonna do?
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
It might be interesting to have a broadly defined character to work with. Story choices can have more impact when we are deciding what a character will do, rather than who the character is.
But given the site and audience the perversion is unlikely to go away.
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
true, but what I'm suggesting is that Rayen give a penalty to those kinds of choices sometimes. Not EVERYONE we control needs to be a pervert. There shouldn't be tons of flirty perverts out there...as fun as that might be. xP
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
Did you forget what site you are on? I believe perversion was one of the stated goals of this venture.
If you are saying it is unrealistic for the world to have so many perverts, well seems more believable than the harpies and wolfgirls. Whether or not all the perverts we control are of the flirty variety remains to be seen.
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
Nah, I'm just saying it'd add a bit more....variety. I'm not asking for realism. If I wanted realism I wouldn't be anywhere near this site. xP
My biggest problem with every character being like Floria is that's all we seem to focus on. Unless Rayen makes it obvious we need to be a bit more serious for a bit, almost everyone goes for the sex option when possible. Case-in-point Radio two posts down, Anomible, Spen, etc. etc.
I'm not saying I don't like it. But this is a game, and I'm pretty sure we can't beat this one by flirting with everyone we meet...Although..........
Posted by DeityV 8 years ago Report
The whole Edris epidemic was based on a choice to do something lewd that spiral out of control into what is now finally the end result. There have been plenty of consequences as well. Just take a look back.
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
What's that have to do with what I said? I never said anything about consequences, just that all the characters would pretty much have the same personality if there isn't some sort of 'filter' put on a character.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
You said "what I'm suggesting is that Rayen give a penalty to those kinds of choices sometimes".
I think that is what DeityV is referring to.
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
Ah, I suppose I did, that would make that comment somewhat relevant...My mistake. A consequence isn't the same thing as making a character different. It changes the outcome, and thus how we respond to the result, but not the character's personality.
Even though we had a minor setback, it'd still be 'flirt with everyone we meet'. I mean, we've just had this big issue, as mentioned, because we wanted to do things based on perversion (or, in other words, force an elf into a threesome in order to appease Myla, whom we were wanting sexy times with), and yet we're already back to sexing Myla, teasing Garret about Bluebell attempting to have sex with him, and just all around ignoring what it was that made this bad situation happen.
I'm not saying we need to cut out the perverted votes (especially with Floria, she's already defined as a sex offender xP) But diversity is the spice of life, as they say.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
I agree with you on most accounts, especially the desire for variety.
A bland character with no well defined personality seems almost the inevitable result of different people with contradicting desires for the character all having a voice.
A number of methods could be tried to give more distinction and personality to the characters. Starting with a broad personality is the method I favor, but the traits system you mentioned to Rayen would accomplish something similar.
Both methods share a number of problem, but I still would like to do one or both.
Of course, the question then arises: what personality do we choose? These character last a bit long for us to take turns.
I see no reason not to discuss these things now so that when Floria eventually dies we might at least know what our options are.
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
Eventually? It's like you think Floria can't beat the game! (As ridiculously unlikely as that is) xD
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
Honestly, I didn't think this was the kind of game that could be won. But if Floria gets eaten, is that not a victory for us players?
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
It's close enough for most. But when it comes to games I'm rather competitive, I don't kill off a character just 'cause I might enjoy it, or I'm curious what'd happen.
ESPECIALLY in rogue-likes, which this game pretty much is.
Also, I'm pretty sure the game's 'beatable'. Rayen'll eventually give us an end goal. At the moment it's: Beat the Ancients spreading crystals throughout the world. Which we won't be doing for a long time, I assume.
Of course, Rayen could always add more after that, like how DBZ keeps adding people that SOMEHOW are stronger than the last guy, but just happen to not show up until the characters are about on par with 'em.
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
I would view our progression as more of search for more and more difficult tasks and enemy's. I view the ancients as more of an obstacle than a goal.
We are an adventurer. Exploring and fighting monsters is what we live for. Our enemies are nothing but obstacles, never the goal.
I'm thinking more in the logic of One Piece or Toriko, where we defeat the strongest thing in the area and then move to a stronger area for the sake of adventure.
In short, I would prefer an infinite world to explore over a game to beat.
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
Problem is, there is no such thing as an 'infinite world' unless Rayen adds space travel.
Saving the world sounds like a good end goal to me.
We can continue to adventure after saving the world, that's fine, but I'm pretty sure the Ancients are about the strongest beings in the ARPG world. Barring 'gods'/'deities'/'mystical beings'/etc.
Dragon hunts sound like a fun pastime while we wait for the next threat to the world xP
Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report
What about Garrett? He's not really lewd or anything. :V
But yeah, I understand what you mean. Anyway, there might be long-term problems with our choices... :V
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
Playing a character like garret might be interesting...then the pervs here would have to work extra hard and hope for the character's roll to win over their nerves xP
One way to combat what I'm talking about is to add traits or something. At character creation we can choose some traits that either benefit us a little, or benefit us a LOT but with downsides.
Like, say, a trait that makes us nervous (harder to talk to people/stand in the spotlight), but more lucky, a trait that makes us uninterested in sex (IE: need REALLY high roll to even ATTEMPT a flirty/sex-based option) but boosts multiple stats, etc.
Even if it doesn't have much of an effect on our choices, traits are probably a decent idea to think about at some point.
Like right now, Floria's trait would probably just be a generic luck boost of some sort. Myla's would be a luck debuff, since she's obviously been getting unlucky lately, Bluebell would have the Feral trait (which can be removed by extensive tutoring by the player), Garret would have that nervous trait I mentioned, and Jates...I got nothin', she's rather plain at the moment, maybe loyal?...she did risk her life to help us when she didn't need to.
Of course characters can have multiple traits. But for your sanity you'd probably want to limit it to 2-3 at a time.
And finally, after that wall of text, I have one final thing to say.
I understand that what I'm saying might not/probably won't be a thing. I'm just giving suggestions. I won't get angry, annoyed, or complain about it if you say it's a horrible idea. It's your 'game' after all (more an interactive story, really. Still fun as fluff though).
Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report
Oh, I see what you mean. You're talking about the main character.
With the way I take inputs, it's a little hard to limit that a lot of the times. Though, as the character progresses, I start to get an idea of what the player character is like, so I start ignoring ideas that make less sense for our character to do. For example, Floria is flirty and stuff, but probably wouldn't do anything outright evil, so I'll avoid comments that suggest things like that.
Posted by nyanyan 8 years ago Report
That's good to know, though it doesn't help as much as I'd like.
If you base your 'block list' off of what our character is like as we play, we'll still start off pretty much the same every time, with people jumping on the first opportunity for sex they can get. Which will lead to the next character also being flirty and stuff. And the next. And the next. Etc.
It's nice to know you're trying though. xP
Posted by Lordpisces14 8 years ago Report
Seems logical to me that our first character would start without a personality.
I would like our next character to start with a broad personality that we define as we play. That would give us plenty of room to evolve the character while still keeping them distinct from each other.
After Floria we could go any number of different directions with the character.
I definitely feel your concerns, but we can certainly avoid them.
Posted by Rayen 8 years ago Report
I thought that for the next character, I might try the idea of setting a personality at creation (from a list of choices). Just something to experiment with at least. :V
Still not sure yet though.

They're surprisingly fun to roleplay- c.f. PedoPuss' Nellie versus the Apocalypse.
Just make sure to give background on why the main character has the personality they do, e.g., was raised by feral cats, parents didn't know better so baby was fed spare bits of equipment as food, or was kidnapped by an evil cult and raised as an assassin that only tickles to death, etc.

That doesn't seem particularly necessary to me.

The thinking behind this is there may still be some of our stuff buried beneath the rubble. It should also supply experience and gold. We can continue to educate the birb before the crew arrives. Bluebell might even be able to show us how to hunt while we're out- performing lookout is easy when you're a flyer.
