An encounter with a friendly dragon causes the druid to relate the tale of how his badger Thistlefur came to be able to unbirth and digest people, which curiously enough was due to another dragon.

With my back from the future perspective on this I was first wondering if the copperdragon was Clack or not. Fr a while I was confused until he made a daring escape from Thistle's snatch of greater consumption.
It was a really good read and an absolute shame what happened to Riddlesmith. Good thing that band all became badger shit.

Crookclaw and Clack are the same dragon, but the villagers don’t know his name so they use the nickname he gave them. Quite a few dragons hide their names, with which The Druid can empathize. 83
