> Tell Myla about dream

You decide to tell Myla about what you saw to see what she thinks of it. After you explain the events of the dream, she gives you a bit of a weird look.

"Well, it's a weird dream, sure." The wolfkin shrugs. "But I doubt it's much more than just that. A dream. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It would be pretty easy to confirm though, if you wanted. We just gotta ask the people at the mines if they sent anyone in recently." She pauses for a bit. "But... let's say for a second that it wasn't just a dream, which I don't believe but... That spider you described sounds dangerous. Going in there could be pretty risky. I'll let you decide though."

You nod to her. It might be a good idea to check. If it was some sort of vision, then you're curious about whether Tahtsu managed to escape. If she did, you might be able to get her help. If she didn't, then you doubt that you'd have much time to actually get in there and find her before Tassri did something with her.

Regardless, there's still stuff in Malor you need to take care of first. It's morning now at least, so you decide to just get up and get dressed.

As you leave your room, you decide the first thing you should do is check on Bluebell and Garrett. Hopefully, the centaur didn't get too bothered by the harpy. His door is slightly open, so you peek inside. Within the room, you can see the two of them asleep on Garrett's large cushion. Based on Bluebell's lack of clothing, you wonder if they managed to have some fun last night. For now though, you just leave them be and head out of the inn.

Your next stop is the barracks. You need to find out what Marcus has decided to do with Elykae. Heading inside, you spot Marcus at his desk, as usual.

"You're up early. I trust everything is fine?" He looks up at you from his seat. You decide for now to not tell him about your dream. Best to not tell too many people in case it turns out to have just been a dream. You instead simply ask him what he has decided to do with Elykae. "Ah, her." He pauses for a moment, thinking. "I've spoken with her quite a lot since yesterday. Commander Caskel's involvement in all this doesn't surprise me too much." You ask if he knew about Caskel before this. "Yes. I've worked with the Commander quite a lot. You could say we're on friendly terms, so we have a lot of trust in each other." He sighs. "To be honest, he still drives me mad. A word of advice, if he ever offers to tell you a story, just find some reason to leave as soon as you can." Marcus really doesn't seem to like the Commander's stories.

You ask him on his decision with Elykae. "Right. If I could transfer her directly to the Commander, then I would do so. However, as it stands, she would likely pass through a few others before reaching him. She may be an agent of the Empire, but even prisoners have rights in the Alliance. I know of several in Erada who would rather ignore those rights just because of her nationality." You didn't realize so many people disliked the Empire here in the Alliance. "As of late, there's been plenty who dislike both the Empire and the Kingdom. We don't want to get involved in their war, but both nations are pressuring us. As such, there's some unrest when it comes to them. But back to the topic at hand..." He looks over towards the cells. "Because I cannot guaruntee her safety during the transfer to the Commander, we'll just say that never entered these cells. She's free to leave, but if she causes any more trouble, then I will have no choice but to properly imprison her and send her to Erada." As he says that, he stands and heads over to the cell where the deergirl is locked away. "I would ask you to keep an eye on her, but I understand that some of the others might be opposed to travelling with her." He unlocks the cell and opens it up. Elykae steps out, facing you.

"You've given me far more mercy than is considered necessary." The deergirl gives you a bit of a bow to show her thanks. "I understand that both of you are taking a risk by helping me, and I hope that there may be some way I can return the favor. I still need to see the Commander, but if there is something I can assist you with, ask it of me."

Elykae is now free, though you might can ask for her help. However, you know Myla won't be happy if she knows about this. There's still a chance that you could convince the wolfkin, though you doubt it'll be easy. And even past all this, you still need to decide what to do next. You could check on the mines, or go to Erada, since you have quite a lot to do there as well. You could also check on Jates to see if she's willing to come along, where ever you decide to go.

-----

We have a lot of plot points we can kinda follow right now. Time to start making some choices.

Though the important one right now is Elykae. We have to decide if we're going to try and team up with her or not. :V

Ooh, ooh! Ask her what she knows of mind mage Arachnes!

(real post, later)

TotallyRandom

Posted by TotallyRandom 8 years ago Report

Agreed. The spider's opinion of elves seemed pretty low. Mind magic is rather complex. And she is a beastkin. These are hints for a Grental origin.
Also she is probably hiding, as she hasn't left the mines for a while. If she is that fearful even in a neutral nation, she is wanted badly at home. So it's likely that Elykae knows about her.

I third this I'm kind of curious as well.

Sergit

Posted by Sergit 8 years ago Report

I think we can ask her to tell us if she knows of any way to protect ourselves against mind based magic. She is a spy, those things are their nemesis. I bet they know how to handle that. Floria can tell her they will likely be facing an enemy who can do stuff to other people's minds, and that we'd appreciate advie about how to counter that.

We are still going to the mines, ASAP

I say we part ways with Elykae and just leave her offer at "If we cross paths again, you can return the favor". Doesn't hurt to have an indebted friend wandering about!

Mention the female elf's name in passing to Marcus, the one from our dream, to see if it causes a response. No need confusing him with mention of a mysterious dream!

Head back to the Inn and gather up the party. I say we head for the city! That way Jates can heal on the road, and we can seek answers for Myla's condition!

paltiel

Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report

- Travel to Erada in the near future, to deliver (via naked airdrop, of course!) Elykae to the Commander
- Ask the deergirl if she's familiar with any famous/infamous/notorious mind mage Arachnes
- Do not split the party
- Plan on heading to the mines immediately after taking care of business in Erada

- Introduce Jates to crazy, vorish, raver potion girl once in Erada
- Buy and repair equipment once in the big city
- Don't forget to surprise Myla with a repaired (& upgraded?) jacket

Typical, over-cautious, paranoia speaking: It's still premature to go to the mines; The party isn't prepared. Even if Elykae joins us.

-----
Someone like Tessri is bound to have p*ssed off folks in power in the past. Otherwise why would she be hiding the way she is? It's possible our world-traveling spy has heard of her.

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I don't think we should try to convince Myla to allow Elykea to join the party either. The risk isn't worth the reward.

If we do end up going to the mines, we should ask the Commander if he can spare a men or 2 to help us (this is because we don't have enough front liners. Myla has less will, Garrett doesn't know how to use the spear very well, and Bluebell is a harpy, not meant for caves).

Worst comes to worst, we can talk to Kaiti if she could talk to the Commander about this, or tag along herself.

paltiel

Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report

Mmm.. agreed. Kaiti or Commander Caskel should at least be able to point us to where to find someone.

What are the chances there's an adventurers guild in Erada. :> Maybe check for a front line healer there?

It's laughable that as a resident property owner of Erada city, Floria is unfamiliar with the place. Starting villages should have labelled minimaps! >_< ^_-

TotallyRandom

Posted by TotallyRandom 8 years ago Report

She may be hiding, but she isn't necessarily evil. She just has to get rid of everyone that spots her, or else her hiding place would be compromised. At least some of the scouts that haven't spotted her returned, so she doesn't kill everyone. And hiding in a cave is dull, so having some fun with her prey is understandable. Just like a cat.

paltiel

Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report

Blind agreement, here. Tessri strikes me as one of those "special circumstances" types. She doesn't deserve the evil label, yet.

nbe21

Posted by nbe21 8 years ago Report

sorry but the constant taunting of the hero and enjoying killing him that much pretty much spells out evil.

KinoTheCat

Posted by KinoTheCat 8 years ago Report

Check on Jates and then prepare to head to Erada.

An Arachnade that can effect the mind is not something we'd want to take Garret or Bluebell to. I doubt either would have a solid mental fortitude against something to that effect.

Topazert

Posted by Topazert 8 years ago Report

Yeah, I'd ask Elykae about mind magics and maybe pointing us to a Mage in her kingdom capable of such that she recomends and maybe techniques on how to defend against mental assaults. Also I don't think It'd be a good a idea at the moment for us to team up with her yet, maybe after we make Myla's disposition towards the Empire more positice we could broker teaming up in the future. After that make preparations to investigate the mine and as well convince Jates that going to Erada as there is a doctor and daughter there she could apprentice with and further her alchemical knowledge.

Topazert

Posted by Topazert 8 years ago Report

I retract my statement about going to the mine though to keep it mind.

JiklokEmisaryOfSteel

Posted by JiklokEmisaryOfSteel 8 years ago Report

The deer lass has gotten a fair treatment yes and we have no need to help her along more. She can do as she wills by my opinion. For now we should prepare our kit for a few days travel. See what we can do about our damaged equipment. Then regroup with the party and decide our next route. We should go to the city, as much as I can tell, if we rushed to the mines or not we still would not be in time.

May steel line thy path

TotallyRandom

Posted by TotallyRandom 8 years ago Report

After we asked Elykae about the spider(see above), have a talk with Myla. Our mid-term goal is to ger her cured and Elykae could point us in the right direction. If she insists on making this difficult by being hated in the Kingdom, while hating the empire, we can forget her cure.

If Elykae joins our party for a time, she needs other clothing. A grentalan uniform will be recognised by at least some people.

TotallyRandom

Posted by TotallyRandom 8 years ago Report

And tell Garret to lend her his spear. (The weapon of course, not what you are thinking.^^)

paltiel

Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report

Have sex with the wolfkin!

It'll kill two birds with one stone: Waking everyone up and calming Myla down (so she can be reasoned with)

The noise should accomplish both tasks nicely.

I agree with you on that tough love approach for Myla. She needs to do things, some unsavory, to make it happen. Elykae can get the Eradian clothes. She'll stand out less in them.

Aren'tcha glad the storyteller has had more opportunities to draw naked characters? ^_~

AnominableBreadman

Posted by AnominableBreadman 8 years ago Report

If we decide to go to the mines first, we should bring everyone including Jates along, that way if what Floria saw was true, we can send Jates back to Mason to let him know of the dangerous situation and to send backup immediately.

Whether we decide to head to Erada now or later, we should keep Elykae close to Marcus, to both protect and keep her from doing anything dumb. If we have Elykae tag along we can tell Myla that she isn't joining the team, we are just going to escort her to the Commander since they are technically the only ones who wouldn't seem to want to kill her or worse.

The-Lonely-Gamefreak

Posted by The-Lonely-Gamefreak 8 years ago Report

For the moment, we can add the spy to the party and proceed to the mines. Explain the dream as we tell Myla we are checking the mines and explain what has occurred with Marcus. Of course, knowing she will be ill, we may say it's temporary and that we can part ways after the mines and reaching the next town.

Still, we have been backstabbed before, so we'll keep her close for now. Pray, if the naga returns, just give her back to her.

The_Prof

Posted by The_Prof 8 years ago Report

well Elykae would be a useful ally, though Myla would be in staunch refusal to help.

My idea: tell Elykae about your mine dream, then if she knows anything of the like convice her to go and find her lamia friend and team up to take her down if evil

RavenXeo

Posted by RavenXeo 8 years ago Report

Lets take her to the mines to investigate our dream while drilling her for info on mind magic ad aracne as we go

davidargall

Posted by davidargall 8 years ago Report

We definitely try to recruit Elykae, at least for the short run, and her snake friend too. Our party is short of melee, and the cave, spider or not, is melee territory.
These are agents of a foreign power and a permanent joining is dubious, but we can get together for the current mission.
We should largely be open with her. We want her to help clear out a mine and she needs to know the risks to help us properly. We don't need to say some of our information is from a dream. Instead, just call it an unreliable source. But see if she can confirm anything, and tell us what she knows of all we dreamed.
The possibility that our spider is a criminal wanted in the Empire is most speculative, but we don't lose anything by mentioning name and race. We could end up with a volunteer or two. We want that snake on our team too, so if we can get her, all the better.
Right now, she wants to see the commander, which fits in with our need to head to the city for other purposes.
Check with the captain to see if he wants to take on the spider. He presumably has duties that will keep him away, but we can ask. and he may have advice.
Now we need to get Myla and Bluebell on board. We need our deer on her best behavior, bowing and smiling to all, Remind Myla that there is good pay for clearing that mine, and we definitely need more melee. This could also be a way to get her potion sickness cured, and we really want that. Add in hugs, kisses, and several "pretty please"'s. If she caves, spend as much time as possible between the two and devote it to soothe over any disputes.
It would be nice to have a report from the mine. If flying is that much faster, our birds fly to the mine to find out what's happening while the party goes directly to the city. We fliers just get a report and rejoin the party at the city. do not do this if the party has to split for too long. We need to make nice between Myla and Elykae.

Thagrahn

Posted by Thagrahn 8 years ago Report

Taking Elykae into the party now would be s bad thing, so best to wish the deer luck and hope to see her and the naga again.

If Elykae does want to go to Erada, offer to get her new clothing to use as a "Alliance" disguise.

Hather the party and head to Erada to get repairs and new equipment, too.

RumiBelly

Posted by RumiBelly 8 years ago Report

Yes. Join with Elykae. If Myla doesn't like it then too bad, she'll either have to live with it, or leave.

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

Or if we get her mad enough, she might just nom us. People do weird things when they're angry.

RumiBelly

Posted by RumiBelly 8 years ago Report

We have other companions. Myla can't take on everyone, and if we're not already weakened we can probably struggle out of her grasp.

Demicus

Posted by Demicus 8 years ago Report

Myla is an angry wierdo... but we're soooo not leaving her at this point. Brief chat with the two of em, but otherwise lets get a move on.

Very least though, pick her mind about mind magics. If she's knowledgeable, we might be able to convince Myla for at least a temporary team up with her.

And whatever the result, we should find out if the two elves were sent in or not. If it turns out it WASN'T a dream, or something in the past, then we might be able to grab some more random help and go help her out. ...or at least get to see her get eaten. :P

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

I agree with you about Myla. We've had her basically since the start. Removing her from the party would be stupid.

nbe21

Posted by nbe21 8 years ago Report

Considering there's a life at stake i would think that the mines would take the most urgent attention of our hero. Possibly ask the deer girl what she knows about the dream since she is able to kinda sense peoples thoughts she would be likely to know mind stuff. Then take party to investigate the mines to at least possibly save the elf girl. but that's just what a good hero would want to do...save the innocent elf girl.

On a journey to the nope where nopeness thrives in a nope den. For such nopeny, we should convince our fluffball to let Elykae travel with us and prevent nopetastropy.

Of course, we could just ignore the nope and let Dark Elf perish. Our party, has potential to become a rather small lewd army. Personally, I love recruiting as much as possible, as long as we can somehow manage and keep everyone in check. I do kind of want to bring Jates along, since she has kind of been our sacrificial lamb from the early days... Plus bonus points for potential interactions with fluffer.

Havoc

ask her if she knows of someone who might be able to guide them to someone in Grentel who could fix Myla's condition; true, she doesn't like the deergirl, but we don't need to have her in the party to work with her, simply some assistance would be enough... perhaps a favour or two in the future as well~?
