I've determined that Black Ribbon is infact the Boss Monster of a dungeon. She is rather, rather strong for her setting, and is quite good at defending the rather large, loot filled castle she resides in. She has few employees over all, most dedicated to non-combat roles deep within the castle, where the living quarters are. So, there's not really any trash mobs in this dungeon...

...the challenge for the adventurers comes from the fact that Black Ribbon stalks the halls. She doesn't sit in her throne room, waiting for the adventurers to arrive, she is a roaming Boss, who seeks out those who attempt to raid her castle.

This tends to go one of two ways: either the adventurers take one look at her and flee, or stand and fight.

Many parties turn tail and run. Most of the time, the dullahan treats these encounters like she's a horror movie monster. She exudes a terror aura that makes most want to flee. And the fact that she can do short ranged teleportation certainly helps, allowing her to pursuit her quarry at a leisurely stroll... until no one is looking back at her, where she'll teleport closer to them. Or, if they turn a corner and lose sight of her, she'll teleport to a doorway ahead of them to pop out casually. Those caught by her get their souls gobbled up by her with much glee. If the adventurers play along with the horror movie thing, she'll actually give them opportunities to get away. Attempting to game the system though is invariably lethal.

Attempting to fight her is difficult, since as a fey she's quite durable. In addition to her high HP pool, terror aura, and that pulling souls out thing, she's a status effect dispenser and can cast concerning dark elemental magic. Defeating her is not impossible, some have managed it. Due to being a fey, she doesn't stay dead for particularly long, and wise adventurers use that as an opportunity to loot as much as they can and flee before the dullahan returns with a vengeance.

Here we have an example of a rather large party of adventurers who ran afoul of her. They attempted to stand and fight, and... it didn't go well.

What if someone came to visit with some board games and cookies? Just to hang out with the pretty lady?

Then they should have sent a letter ahead. Off the clock, Black Ribbon is quite accommodating, but she's also a stickler for rules. If you come through that door without an invitation, you're in trouble XD

What I I were to knock on the door or ring the door bell and wait outside like a normal person, instead of some scoundrel?

One of her servants would come, and explain the rules to you politely, then tell you to come back with an invitation. Postage is cheaper than potentially getting your soul eaten!

Can I leave the games and cookies with the servant so I don’t have to carry them all the way back?

Is “I wanna stare at your neckhole” a good approach to requesting an invitation?

As much as I love being eaten I'd be cool with playing along or trying to get an invitation to hang out with her honestly she would be pretty cool plus I love female horror monsters like scylla and izanami on smite.

Okay I’m leaving an invitation with the servant to visit. I like Dullahan girls and don’t wanna get my soul eaten since I need that. I’ll bring snacks and video games once I’m allowed back

This is fantastic but i feel compelled to point out that dullahans are one of the very few fey (redcaps being another) immune to cold iron. Dullahans instead have a vulnerability to gold.

That's interesting. Though, after picking through a few varients of the legend, it seems that they have a fear of gold, as opposed to being hurt by it. Though you're definitely correct from what I can tell when it comes to the cold iron thing, thanks for the heads up ^^

Whenever I see a dullahan, I can only think of the awesomeness that is Celty Sturluson.
