Gwooouuuraaaaalsh…



The Handler continues to be stunned by just how loud the predatory monster’s stomach is. Even from behind her rock- a good few meters away from the Jagras’s gut, she can distinctly hear each roar and rumble. Some of them are followed by low-pitched bwuuuuuarooorps while others are trailed by indistinguishable stomach noises.



Taking out her notebook again, the girl decides this is her best time to really observe what happens after a Jagras eats. She’s heard the tales of what they’ve puked up mid-battle and even caught wind of some hunters who’d taken a dive down its gullet. As expected, those hunters did not return. Those hunters, however, did not come equipped with The Handler’s wealth of curiosity and willingness to watch.



“I really gotta wonder just how long this will take!” She exclaims, giddy with excitement. “I’ve heard a lot about how quickly they can melt down other monsters… so I bet that Paolumu will go down smoothly.”



Speaking of smoothly…



It doesn’t take long for her to notice a distinct physical change in shape. Some more noise precedes the softening of the Jagras’s belly, making the girl wonder what exactly is digesting first. Maybe it’s the winged wyvern’s fluffy fur, or possibly its thick hide. Regardless of what is currently digesting, the Jagras’s stomach continues to get rounder and rounder, eventually shaping into a squashed sphere.



Before The Handler can finish her notes, she hears another foreboding gurgle from the monster’s guts. She watched as the monster’s jaws part automatically, allowing it to belt out the enormous-



BhaaaaaUUUUURaaaaaaarlp…



Though the eructation starts with volume, it tapers out surprisingly quickly. What it succeeds in, though, is dissipating the fog, replacing it with a veil of sweetness.



Yawning, The Handler stands up and closes her book. She sets it down, along with her side bag. “All in a day’s work.” She states, maintaining her chipper grin. It seems like the Jagras’ last belch successfully warded away any remaining fumes, allowing the girl to safely approach the monster.



From her previous position, the girl had a hard time appreciating the reptilian’s tummy as opposed to observing it. Now that she’s standing in front of it, though, it looks soft, warm, inviting…



“I never expected a big scaly lug to look so soft,” she coos, “I bet you’re a big, green pillow…” Unconsciously she leans into the stomach, the warm flesh squishing around her. The Jagras again burps, prompting a childish giggle. “You really are a cutie Jagras, and quite the pred too! I could probably stay here and observe you a little bit longer…”



As she imagines her future documentations and discoveries, The Handler allows her eyes to close. There’s no harm in her staying here for a while, especially if the Jagras has a full belly. After all, a full monster would never eat her, right?



However, the possibility of harm quickly grows when the girl unknowingly drifts off to sleep. Not long after, the Great Jagras wakes up...
