After he is diagnosed with a fatal illness, a middle-class mouse seeks to end his life by way of a hungry predator and collect the insurance payout. This, however, will prove easier said than done despite being in a city where mice are eaten daily. But a feud between two rival dancers at a nearby strip bar may just give him the end he needs to save his family from going into debt and getting eaten themselves.

Really enjoyed the feud, and all those failed attempts only to finally be used as a sort of poison pill. Great work as always!

Thank you. It seemed the best way to play things out given one would think it easy to end up as a meal there.

After all we've seen in this setting, is was strangely, surreal to see a mouse the predatory type wouldn't dare eat due to sheer hierarchy. Admittedly have to wonder, what can be detectable after several hours, to be recognisable by their, detectors... I'm assuming they were tipped off, else how could they find him unless there is tracking chips or something... which would make sense I suppose since his plan might not have worked if he was eaten by someone and never found... I'll bet this insurance company if their guidelines for payout are so, strict, wouldn't pay out with no confirmed cause of death, or even proof of death. Also have to wonder, surely he fully grasped the ramifications to his predator. Was it intentional it not even cross his mind, even only long enough to be dismissed as not his priority... ^^; I do tend to overthink these things I suppose

By all means, keep the theorizing up. It helps me write more stories exploring fun little facets of a setting like insurance fraud. I didn't think too much about how the tracking worked, though there was probably a lot more involved that the action "onscreen." As for the moral ramifications, I suppose it's easy to say that he was more preoccupied with his kids kept him from being concerned for the predator's fate. But at the same time there wouldn't likely be much love lost towards someone who eats your kind on a daily basis even if they were doing it legally.
