Ey, really nice!
Even went as far as to add remnants of Hiccup in the belly, that’s a nice detail.

Edits are much easier than original art for whatever reason. I think this one took about 45 minutes, and much of that was getting the skull on the fin to look right and to get the remains in Selene's belly the right size. I drew them much too small at first.

That's pretty much how it could happen. If Toothless just tried a threat display rather than instantly going to fire, and he probably would for fear of cooking Hiccup along with Selene, he could get surprised and gulped down by a merciless predator like the leopard seal.
