Hullo
So my drawing isn't really progressing too well, but I have been getting some sketches done that I'm most proud of. And since it seems I can't really get past the sketching phase, I mind as well post some of them here for ya'll. But I'll keep trying!

I think that your work looks great! I’d love to commission something sometime!

Much appreciated, but I'm not confident enough to start asking people money for my work.

Maybe try taking on a request or two just to get some experience with it, or you could try putting out a blog/poll/questionnaire on your page about what people would like to see you make, or characters they’d like to see in your art style? If nothing else it would give you more reason to continue practicing your art.

That's not the worst idea. I'll think about it, try and figure out how to do it without overwhelming myself as I tend to do x)

That’s fair enough. Keep up the great work though!

Do you have ideas on what you'd like to improve? Looking at your other sketch, your volumes are good, you aren't skipping fundamentals or anything. Have you ever tried a figure drawing class? Maybe it would help ground your style.

I have actually tried to wrap my head around figure drawing for some time now, but I just don't seem to truly get it. Been using a site called line-of-action.com, but can't say it has helped me to hammer it home yet. If you got any tips on that, I'd appreciate it.

Proko is pretty good for talking about how to actually construct the figure. IRL classes can be good too if you have one in your area. Doing figures from reference is different from constructing them yourself but it gives you a better eye for what you get wrong. It's all about what your goals are, though, is there something in particular that bothers you about your own art?

Ah, I think I've seen Proko's videos recommended to me, but never really checked them out, but I'll def check em out now. Sadly I don't think there are any IRL classes anywhere near, did some googling and it seems the closest to me is about 8 hours away x)

It's quite difficult to put in words but, I think my drawings just look so stiff and lifeless. I guess figure drawing could possibly help in that?

That's a tough question. While figure drawing and gestures might help with adding some looseness by forcing yourself to go quickly and concentrate more on proportions/measurements than detail, drawing representationally can also kind of backfire for stiffness because there's no exaggeration. Maybe you could also try checking out some traditional animation techniques? Not necessarily to try animation, it's a lot, but just to study how squash and stretch, arcs, and stuff like that are used.

Alright that all sounds pretty good. Never really even thought about studying animation for drawing practices, but it does make sense. I'll definately check em out.
Much obliged for the help :)
