The City, Byte #1, Construction:
The imaginatively named capitol of The Clear Skies Initiative is a much older settlement than it may first appear to be, after all, The Initiative is one of, if not the oldest faction in The World Within.
While The Initiative’s leadership first settled the area of The City nearly a millennia ago, and at least a few centuries after the construction of the oldest building in Newauld, records indicate that there was an abandoned settlement already there, consisting of sandstone buildings, far larger than should have been possible with the tools available at the time, and surprisingly durable, so durable in fact, that these buildings still sit at The Cities centre, and are all still used by various businesses, industries and governmental entities.
It is a common myth that The City was named such because The Initiative believed they would not be stuck in The World Mother forever, but the truth is that, when the Initiative first found the abandoned settlement, they named it ‘The City’, as no other name could be found, and the name simply stuck.
While the centre may be ancient in its construction, the outer areas are much more modern in appearance, older buildings constantly being demolished to make way for newer colossi of glass and steel, these newer areas are generally split into districts, one to the north, one to the south and two between them on either side, giving the city a hexagonal appearance when viewed from above, the old, sandstone town is known as the seventh district.
