It was
raining over Tolmeshal forest, a light, cool drizzle cleansing the
warm air. A sprinkle of raindrops tumbling from the sky splashed
against the highest leaves of the giant trees’ canopy, before
dripping along their slanted surface, and completing their descent
down to the damp ground. The sun, on the western horizon, was
beginning its gradual descent. It was mostly concealed by banks of

The half-way
realm
Unpaved but
well-worn dirt paths extended out beyond Negav, well past the
protective range of the Isolon eye and into the untamed forest,
before finally tapering out somewhere in the savage jungle. The
tracks of feet and hooves and wheels were thick-set in proximity to
the fortified human city, then spread more thinly as they approached
hazardous ground, indicating that few adventurous souls cared to
travel an obvious route when exposed to the perils of the wild.
