Picture interpretation: After many fruitless hours of trying to fish for a mermaid, young Adela Finn, girl genius, discovers in a sudden moment of inspiration that the ideal bait to use for mermaids is delicious little girls. After kicking off the mermaid that attacked her, Finn went on to create an evil corporation bent on enslaving other little girls as bait to capture mermaids.

Alternate interpretation for people who want the girl to be eaten: The mermaid is asking the little girl "May I?" while glomping on her leg. You may ask how the mermaid is asking anything with her mouth full like that. Well, she's asking it with her eyes, you see. Even though she's wording it like that, it's less of a question and more of a traditional phrase, much like "Itadakimasu" in Japanese. It's customary in mermaid culture to ask other creatures for permission before eating them. But since mermaids can't understand fish any better than we can, it's generally assumed that the answer is yes. In this case, even though the mermaid in question can understand a bit of human language, it's looking a bit bewildered because sound moves through air differently than it moves through wat- okay, forget this. You come up with your own interpretation.

Still practicing my painting style, and noticing a lot of things I still need to work on. See how the girl's left arm is conveniently hidden behind her body? This is what's known in the art world as a cop-out. See how the girl's foot is conveniently hidden inside the mermaid's mouth? I hate drawing feet.

This is great Somiad.
This is a fantastic portrayal of movement like the mermaid leaping from the water and the water splashing; also the girl’s recoil in surprise.

very nice. cute, even if the interpretation is kinda dark.
also I'm very familiar with "artistic cop-outs" :)

I think, all things considered, it is best if the girl is eaten.

I never considered vore preference as being a function of artistic frustration, but thanks to this, the next time I see an artist who says they prefer head-first, I'll just assume it's because they don't like drawing hair. :)

So so adorable.
And don't worry about the hand and foot thing. I did it all the time. >< It gives you a chance to develop realistic perspective + posing to accommodate the problem.

The description was cute.

It made me go back and give it a second glance. You've got really good detail in the shading.

What a sweet picture :) I find interpretation #2 to be the best. The mermaid is clearly confused by the unexpected reaction. "No? What do you mean no? This has never happened before. Could we keep it between ourselves?" I love the way the girl's foot has slid down so effortlessly. Incidentally, the visible hands and feet look good, especially the foot, so I think the situation is better than you thought.

That moment when you say to yourself, "Fuck it, she's an amputee now."

Its actually a femdom scene and the girl has a peg-leg (her father was a pirate) that she's making her fishy slave clean with her throat.

I adore the "alternate interpretation" you gave. It was making a lot of sense before you gave up! Which just made it even better. XD

I'm not sure why this wasn't in my favorites, I must've seen it a billion times before now.

It would be polite to allow her to eat her up.
