It will be the best prank *ever*, they told him. It's not even a prank. It's epic.

Go to her cave in the darkest part of night, they said. She can't turn you into stone if she can't see you!

Besides, they laughed. You'll be doing the world a favor. All Medusa really needs is a good lay, and she'll stop being so grumpy!

She had a garden of statues, but this was her new favorite. The other were all warriors, for the most part, eager to secure their fame by slaying her. He was a warrior too, in a way. His weapon was drawn and ready, in any case.

It was almost a shame to see his skin go smooth, his expression of fear harden into permanence, to see the marble veins run through his body. She could have shown the faun a thing or two.

For that matter, why not? She wouldn't want to be said to be inhospitable. And she'd never have to worry about his performance anxiety. She drew closer, spreading her cloak. Her brood struck at his marble head, blunting their fangs, but she let her tongue circle his open lips. Often she wondered if her statues were dead, or forever alive, alert, frozen. She wondered, but didn't care.

She brought herself to her toes, lined herself up, felt the the pressure of the smooth stone where her excitement had already mounted, and--

Ahhh... Oooh..

Satyrs (or Fauns, for the Romans), were often associated with the god Priapus. At some point Priapus' endowment became conflated with the fauns - perhaps because of their rapish proclivities. According to my first Roman history teacher (whose slavering excitement at sharing this tidbit gives me every reason to doubt), Octavian's daughter Julia had a statue of a satyr in her garden that she used to take her girlfriends out to visit during their sleepovers. Good times.

30 Days of Monster-Boys 20: Satyr

And yes - I'm having a devil of a time making monster-boys actually monstery when I'm filling my own slots. Poor fellas.

No, you're right. I was thinking about that the whole time I was drawing it. That's hard for me, and in the end I just needed to keep the project moving. So I took a bye. :)
