Knowing the history of comics as I do... I can't even be affected by this, really. Too many deaths usually means most if not all the dead heroes will be brought back somehow.
Also, in the next film, the heroes will be permitted to counter Thanos' really over-played self-justified, circle-jerking rhetoric.
It's why I love "One Punch Man", Saitama so simply and succinctly lays flat the typical villain speeches, then ends everything with one punch.
Oh sure, most of them will come back, but in the meantime Rocket has lost Groot AGAIN and he still has to find out the rest of his friends are dead. The little guy doesn't like very many people and they are pretty much all dead right now.
Spoilers, and I have yet to see Infinity War yet I still clicked it... but as charlesdeleroy said, knowing the history of the comics like I do... they'll come back and kick Thanos' ever loving ass. I mean, they have three literal GODS in their corner (Thor, Loki, Odin) and even if Thor's dead in the movie... he's not really dead. Marvel may be... taking liberties... but Thor can't die by anyone else's hand lore wise. He is killed by Fenrir, who, if I'm thinking correctly (I haven't seen the movie) he kicks the ever loving fuzzy ass of in the Thor Ragnarok with the help of Hulk. Also... there's Hulk. I don't think I've seen any comics, videos or even any lore on him actually dying. Not to mention Wolverine. Unless we're using the "Logan" Wolverine, where his infinite healing is gone, canonically, he's been EATEN by Hulk and CUT HIS WAY OUT OF HIS STOMACH.
I will grant that with all of the Infinity Stones however, Thanos is the most over powered SOB in the history of Over Powered SOBs.
Spoilers - Thor is the last living Asgardian, all of them killed by Thanos and the Black Order. Loki got strangled to death by Thanos. He made Thor watch. Hulk got his ass kicked by Thanos so hard that he's refusing to emerge, leaving Banner very confused and frustrated.
Thor said half his people were slaughters by Thanos. Even if half of the remainder got Snapped there are still quite a few out there. They were presumably either in life pods or parts of the ship that didn't explode.
That Spoiler warning was NOT prominant enough. I thought it was talking about the comic book for a good while, then I realized with a giant pit forming in my stomach when I saw the spoilers in the Artist Comment what I had just seen.
This whole thing should have started with a Spoiler pannel, and the thumbnail should have also said spoilers.
I'm thinking of doing one where he's holed up in a lab, watering flower pots that never grow new Groots and making weapons twenty hours a day so that maybe someone will kill Thanos with one. Sleeping in a little pet bed and avoiding all human contact because every friend he's ever had has died.
Yes, excellent...!
He was devastated when Groot died and mourned Yondu, I can't imagine how much losing all the friends he slowly grew to love and trust must be hurting him.

I just watched this, and that was quite a sad realization.

This reminds me of Dende from Dragon Ball Z: Abridged.
"So, Dende, what's it like being the bronze medal?"
"Like everyone I know and love is dead."
"Every party needs a pooper that's why they invited you, Party Pooper. Party Pooper."
XD

aw, DUDE!
Posted by YoshiDragon336 7 years ago Report
But Groot is still alive. There only needs to be a small part of him remaining to grow back.
Posted by Strega 7 years ago Report
All such parts probably got SNAPPED.
Posted by Strega 7 years ago Report
And that would be a new Groot, just as Baby Groot was not the original one.
Posted by YoshiDragon336 7 years ago Report
There is still one part of Groot roaming around though. its SHOCKING that no one noticed it.

If Stormbreaker's handle were still alive it would likely have disappeared too.
Posted by YoshiDragon336 7 years ago Report
Could still be. The magic from the hammer might have kept him alive.

I'm still holding out hope that Korg, Miek, and Valkyrie are still alive.

And they're Gods, basiclly. Or at least angels. And those are beings that don't really "die" they just start over. typically speaking.

Ah. There's hope, then.

Oh, this is so good...
Do you think you might write a story exploring his feelings about this?

I've sort of distanced myself from the Predatory Rocket them though I could see myself revisiting it.
