Not necessarily, genetic mutation is a thing and maybe it was a certain gene-sequence happening by random chance that gave her the ability to eat people whole, clearly not in this case but it could have been.
Or it was magic.

I guess we know where Gabi gets her abilities. By that note, it may be possible for Emily to have those skills too! It may just be a matter of time! Hopefully Gabi helps her mother out with the robbers!

Found the wiki for this universe. might want to update the parents info with this current input right? It's saying that the mother and father don't eat anyone, and with this, the mother is in contradiction.
