I've spent the last half year or so toying around with the whole HTML5/CSS/JS combination. I originally got 'out' of web development back in the original web browser wars when 'This page looks best in Netscape Navigator' banners and the likes became prevalent but recently I wrote a mapping program for a friend and .. actually kinda enjoyed working with it.
True, it doesn't allow me to build code as optimized as I would in C# and WebGL isn't ready (and may never be ready) so all the 3D stuff I've learnt wouldn't be much use. But I never had the capability of producing decent graphics anyway and the huge advantage with it is the possibility of a game that just works in the browser. No additional downloads, no plugins or content packs.
