> Wake up

You don't know how long you were out, and as you wake up you feel both injured and cold. Looking at yourself, you find that you've been stripped of everything. Not only that, but you are beaten and bruised.

Looking around, you realize that you are no longer in the fortress. As a matter of fact, you have no idea where you are. You assume you are somewhere near the bandit's fortress, but night has fallen and you can only see what the moonlight reveals to you. The wind is cold against your bare skin, though not unbearable. You're lucky that it's not the cold season.

You manage to stand up to get a better look around. Nearby, you see a piece of paper pinned under a small rock. Checking it reveals it to be a note addressed to you...

"If it were my choice, you'd be dead with a knife in your gut. Unfortunately, my boss thinks otherwise. An idiot like you doesn't deserve mercy. Regardless, it looks like you have one last chance. I hope some beast rips you apart.

And I wouldn't worry about your friends either. You won't be seeing them again.

-Edris"

In the end, Edris was just setting you up. You curse at yourself, realizing how stupid it was to trust her. Your stomach growls as you realize you're a little hungry.

You feel very vulnerable in your current condition and look around for something to defend yourself with. You find a sturdy wooden branch to use as a club. It's better than nothing, though you're still completely exposed...

Poor Garrett, the horse just wanted adventure, dammit!

We should wake up from this nightmare next to Myla at the inn, never hearing from Edris again because when she disappeared she got eaten by a bear.

Can we please?

Riiiiiight. Heal first, then go looking for help. Running around at low health seems like a good way to die.

paltiel

Posted by paltiel 9 years ago Report

Heal first, then reconnoiter and see if there are trees that we can climb or edible plants we recognize.

Around a "safe" tree, make some deep pit traps with Earth magic, cover it over with branches and leaves.

Is magic still available, albeit weakened?

As one of the people responsible for this.. sorry. v_v

Magic can be used, though it is weakened. But the healing magic mechanic is still there. We can't just spam use it to heal up to max. Some HP can only be restored via rest. :V

First priorities should be to recover and find our bearings. I can't remember if we can use Heal on ourselves, but we have a little energy left, at least. Once we're in a more stable situation, we can stop and plan.

The Saint of Ravens

Posted by The Saint of Ravens 9 years ago Report

Well that was unfortunate, but kind of expected. Aslo, Edris has a boss, who may or may not be Mr. Hood dude.

Heal up and try to be quiet, if our girly gets caught by a beast, she's probably a goner. Try to get back to town if possible. We might be able to meet up with the soldiers who were planning to clear out the fortress.

Now is time for damage control mode.

Kartomic

Posted by Kartomic 9 years ago Report

I see we have a Katia Managan situation on our hands: knocked down, stripped of our belongings, and now we start at page 1 once more.
Right, first things first: find our way back to town, and gather reinforcements, remaining vigilant for beasties/ potential meals. Or, at the very least, some cloths. While we're at it, maybe a quick prayer to Dulstaf's goddess is in order: pray for the safety of our allies, and swift justice to those damn bandits.

So, Edris' schtick about avenging Nysk by teaming up with us was all bunk eh, Rayen?

Demicus

Dam those slimey scum, I've had enough of them, I say we tap into our own deity power and reign divine retribution upon the infidels before it is too late to save our friends, come my fellow heads, unleash our hydra diety power through our human vessel, just enough so that we do not overwhelm Floria's body, WHO'S WITH ME!!!! aaannnd if that sadly doesn't work we better just climb a tree and try to find a way back to the town to get help...I swear tho my first idea would be spectacular. ):

KinoTheCat

Posted by KinoTheCat 9 years ago Report

Hey now, that's not called for. If you don't like how an outcome occurs, try to think of a way to get out of the situation that's happened or stop playing.

This specific outcome is due to the playerbase's choices. There were a lot more people who wanted to fight alongside Edris even though there were a lot of redflags.

Treat this as a learning experience as to the kind of game that we're all playing instead of getting so angry about it.

SnipsChan

Posted by SnipsChan 9 years ago Report

Actually I completely understand his anger.
When we sit here shouting: "KILL THE BITCH" and everyone else says: "let's go deep in the woods with no help to be around a bunch of bandits that hate us"
Then we end up fucked, stripped, wounded, and all our friends are toast, anger is the only logical outcome.

I've been silently watching this series for awhile now xD and yeah...Edris backstabbing was a long thing coming was kind of hoping to get her out of the way before this kind of outcome.
But...
If floria can make it out of this current situation this is a chance for a learning on her part and possible difference in how she's being played so far. I mean she's been so pure hearted so far lol maybe it's just me but time for a realist approach a grittier and tougher floria no more softy so much so that "IF" she's lucky enough to meet the people who knew her will wonder what happened to the super nice and accommodating Floria of the past.

Well I'd say use the sturdy branch, really should tie a good rock on the end to make a makeshift club though idk if there's enough vegetation to make some rope. But really should try to know where we are right now if we are too close and unprepared wouldn't want to encounter the previous bandits yet....

Well let's hope this is not a unrecoverable situation look forward to next time rayen :3

"I really have no idea how you guys did not see this coming. I wasn't exactly being subtle about Edris"

We did, in case you haven't noticed some people want Floria killed off (and to not have puppies), is it any surprise that that group gets a bit more vocal when you give us a character bound to stab us in the back?

RumiBelly

Posted by RumiBelly 9 years ago Report

Also don't heal unless can do it while we run, or it will help us run faster. If either of those heal up and get help. AND DYING IN THE WILD IS SO MUCH WORSE OF AND ENDING THAN PUPPIES!

Caustic

Posted by Caustic 9 years ago Report

How does not having puppies relate to any of this?
If anything you could argue that people dont want an adventerur pregnant, thus wanting her to succeed longer.5t

RumiBelly

Posted by RumiBelly 9 years ago Report

One of the points against puppies that caused some people to not vote for it was that it would be too sad if we died while pregnant with puppies. Also if you missed it the number of days that have passed had been calculated and was rather small. The extending the adventure argument fell flat quite a while ago and ended up becoming more about preparing Floria for a vore death. That comment was directed more at the people who voted against puppies legitimately thinking it would end the adventure.

RavenXeo

Posted by RavenXeo 9 years ago Report

I didn't think it would end the adventure. I just knew in a world of bandits when you get captured, if you dont get knocked out straight away with a blow to the head, you get punched in the gut to subdue you. If we kept the puppies then we would just set ourselves up for horrible times later. and look, horrible times arrived.

I saw it coming, as I stated I wanted to bust it up from inside. Leeroy Jenkins! :v

I mean the Flowey The Sunflower thing was a dead giveaway. i've played Undertale. Don't think I didn't get that clue.

We stripped her naked, she strips us naked. Eh. So far so fair.

To play the game now we should all watch the film Castaway for guidance. Also the reboot of Tomb Raider.

> Heal. Heal. Heal.

> Forage for berries. Good, quick food source.

> Construct a doll out of twigs, with little berries for boobies, name it 'Myla'

> Light a fire with fire magic to keep warm

> Club some small animals to death to make a pelt to wrap up in

> Eat their meat.

> Sleep by the fire with twig Myla.

> Say 'Ugg. Me am Floria. Woof friend have got skinny.' before nodding off.

Then we will wake up fully healed and maybe some passing soldiers will see our campfire too. Bv

Then we can start our caveman adventure to hitch a ride back to Malor.

As dire as this situation is I think, narratively, it makes a great 'Act 2' to our story instead of just wandering around town forever.

PowerPigeon

Posted by PowerPigeon 9 years ago Report

When I say eat their meat I don't mean raw, I mean cooked at the fire we start. So we don't get salmonella. Because I guarantee salmonella is in this game. :v

PowerPigeon

Posted by PowerPigeon 9 years ago Report

Finally, last comment for this week, at least now we have a legit reason to take Edris down. I prefer 'innocent until proven guilty' as a hero's code of honour. Killing her based on 'this doesn't feel right' would have been wrong. Like, North Korea wrong.

But now that the bio says Edris 'doesn't like the idea of vore'...

She needs to be brought to justice. Floria style.

Because Floria... is the one who knocks.

PowerPigeon

Posted by PowerPigeon 9 years ago Report

Wait, no, one last thing:

It's a good thing Jates kept hold of our money while we were out of Malor. She owes us a big debt for that medical bill which she hasn't paid us back yet.

It's also good that Gina still has a job opening at the shop for us.

We head back to Malor, amass a fortune of wealth, and ram a well equipped army up the arse of Nysk's successor, Edris.

Consider this the ending of the 'prologue', and the beginning of the main game. The cuddle time was just a long back-story. This caveman quest is going to be our real tutorial.

Now for caveman quest, where we build some real skills. Then Malor money-making, where we get mad rich and build charisma.

Then we use our mad rich against a mad bitch, Edris, and turn her against hooded cloaked guy using our mad mercantile charisma.

We got this, man. We got this. Unless a steam train runs us over in the next panel or something. "Marty, we've gone too far back! What did we run over? Why is its butt so big?", teh edn.

davidargall

Posted by davidargall 9 years ago Report

So take lesson to heart. Run from a trap. Do not try to bust it from the inside.

Ithilium

Posted by Ithilium 9 years ago Report

I say look around and see if we can see tracks or some other sign leading to were the bandits went off to, and follow them. Then we ambush a lookout take their equipment and hopefully potions and sneak into the bandit camp to try and save Myla. First, this would not be something the bandits would expect, and second this is a vore game so if myla is captured she may still be alive in a bandits belly, and going back to town to get help will just seal her fate! Just my two cents.

DeityV

Posted by DeityV 9 years ago Report

I knew it. Damn elf. Honestly, who the hell would be all "let's be friends, even though you tried to eat me?" Oh yeah, Jates. But seriously, the signs were all there. I do think we had a decent amount of people saying to get the hell out of there though. I honestly don't know what the heck we can do. Heal spell ourselves I guess, and pray for a miracle. Hopefully everyone survives this, and MAYBE we actually become a little more aggressive in this RPG.

DeityV

forgreatjustice18

Posted by forgreatjustice18 9 years ago Report

So if Floria dies we got max punished for taking a risk. This is how you end up with games where no one ever takes a risk and will always choose the safest(aka boring) option.

I vote heal and try to find a safe place to rest. When the morning comes try to find the soldiers that were on the way to the fort.

PowerPigeon

Posted by PowerPigeon 9 years ago Report

"This is how you end up with games where no one ever takes a risk and will always choose the safest(aka boring) option."

Yep. :v

However, dangerous, unexpected new outcomes is what makes risk-taking so fun.

DeityV

Posted by DeityV 9 years ago Report

Well, in all fairness, this could have been avoided much earlier in several cases. Honestly, we're here now because we played it too safe earlier. We've been relatively friendly with most everyone we have encountered. I will admit though, some of my choices would have been costly as well (digest Jates). Sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong, just the way it goes..sometimes.

Jondo

Posted by Jondo 9 years ago Report

This was completely avoidable. There are risks, and there are stupid decisions that get us hurt. This was the latter. Thats the thing with this with this kind of story. We're allowed to make stupid decisions, and sometimes risk fall through. If anything, we're lucky we're not staring at a Game Over screen right now.

davidargall

Posted by davidargall 9 years ago Report

This is also how you get long games that don't end with your side all dead. This also is how you got born, from cowardly ancestors who ran away from situations like this. You may have had some brave uncles and aunts, but they died bravely without giving you any cousins. You should thank the craven for being sensible and allowing you to get started.

Kartomic

Posted by Kartomic 9 years ago Report

I can't get over how bad i feel about this. Yeah, it could have been avoided: Edris offered us gold, we needed it, and it was bad times for everyone. In a weird way tho, Edris has played a big role in how we play this: Spitting her up for sexy times taught us that not everything in ARPG is about sex, and this is a hard lesson about the nature of who we trust. It's a shame that Myla and Garrett had to pay the price for our mistake, but I do sincerely hope that we didn't get them killed, in addition to our current, precarious situation.

I hold out hope that something good can come of this. :D

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 9 years ago Report

Ok, first we heal enough so we done die right away. Then get makeshift clothes(?). We should attempt to figure out where we are. Look for tracks, landmarks, anything that we tell us where we are.

If we can, get/make a better weapon and get some food. Before night fall, find a safe area and call it quits for the night. The next day, try to make our way back to town.

I knew we shouldn't have trusted Edris, I now regret some of my past decisions. We have to stay optomistic.

Let's get out of these woods alive and find our friends. NEVER GIVE UP!!!

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 9 years ago Report

The one thing I really, REALLY hope, is that Myla didn't get captured and and isn't being force to drink potions. I think if that happens, I might actually be sick.

Well, there goes everything. The only thing I really hate here is losing Myla. :'( Unfortunately, that's how a game goes when you run out of luck on greedy choices with no backup. x(

Guess the best thing to do at the moment is heal. I don't know whether to believe we will never see Myla and Garrett again, but going to the fortress would be death, right? Probably best to go back to town and get help to attack the place.

Lialketta

Posted by Lialketta 9 years ago Report

Ok, locate the nearest road is the best option. If we can find our way back to civilisation, we begin a new. Then get the guards of the city with us, help track down Myla and Garret and when we find Edris eat her alive and digest the bitch.

Jondo

Posted by Jondo 9 years ago Report

Heal up, and try to get our bearings. We need to get back to Malor asap. Jates owes us one and could probably get us back on our feet. Marcus' soldiers are about to walk into an ambush, and there is the off chance Garrett grabbed Myla and ran.

Deska

Deska

I suppose that also means we look for tracks. Whoever drug us out here must have left some sign. Will make our way back to the fort as stealthy as we can. From there we can find a clue what may have happened to Myla and retrace our steps home!

davidargall

Quit trying to be Superman, we are outnumbered 10-1 easy. They are healthy and heavily armed, and if we are using standard rules, Edris and others can see in the dark way better than we can. Run, rest, and recover. Then we can come back with some hope of victory.

Okay, let's get priorities going. While i wanna whine about the situation and hope characters are still okay, we collectively saw this coming. Not every character can be redeemed. Hopefully garret and myla escaped.

1) Heal up so we don't die the first thing that sneezes on us.
2) find a rock for our off-hand, we can throw it as a distraction.
3) look around to make sure we're not being stalked.
4) assuming we're safe for the time being, look up to the stars or around for landmarks. Hell, climb a tree if we have to.
5) Wish we were in the mood to masturbate. But no srs, let's find our way home. Hunger will need to wait for immediate safety and location. If we find food on the way, we can capitalize on it.

YesImCanadian

It would be funny, if in the end of all this, it turned out to be a dream sequence.

PowerPigeon

Posted by PowerPigeon 9 years ago Report

We did get knocked out. Could be. Should be. I liked it when it was us and the bandits vs. cloaked guy instead of just the binary two factions. Now it's too simple. :v

davidargall

Posted by davidargall 9 years ago Report

OK, note 1-If something sounds too good to be true, it likely is.
Note 2-If something sounds like a con game, flee immediately. Do not go along with the con and try to find some way to come out covered with glory. This is real life, not some wishful story. The con is a pro, and we are an amateur. Staying and "fighting" is just asking to get beat up.
So plans....
Heal up what we can.
Leave our immediate location. The bandits know where we are, and there is just too much chance Edris will come back and try to finish the job. We don't have to go far, just enough to make hunting us down too much effort. If we find some clue about where we are, or it's just easy travel, we keep going a ways. Night hunters are not that common, so we can risk further travel to be safer from the bandits. But we eventually have to find a hiding place until dawn.
Go downhill as much as possible. That keeps from walking in circles, and the fort should be on a hill to see what is around and for better defense. So we can avoid falling back into bandit hands.
If we do find fort, get away from it, but use it as guide for location. Do Not Try dramatic rescue.
Dangers are present, so sooner or later, find a tree or whatever to hide in, and stay there for the night, trying to get what sleep we can. When there is light, we head back to town.
Once in town, we head to captain to report all, and to volunteer to go with soldiers. We can stop in at the inn briefly for clothes and in hope Edris didn't come back to town and clean us out there too.

Rayen

PowerPigeon

Posted by PowerPigeon 9 years ago Report

It. :v

davidargall

Posted by davidargall 9 years ago Report

Oh come on!
That would mean that in those scenes where Flo was wearing a dress, she was also carrying her entire suit of armor, and that we were wearing both dress and armor in a variety of other scenes.
The simple fact is that people almost never carry all of their possessions on their person even when that is physically possible. We all leave stuff in various "safe" locations.
Now saying we only took what was "reasonable" can cause problems, true, but saying we have to say we stored stuff means we will have to micro manage, saying what we are wearing and what we are doing with what, and you will have to pay attention to a lot of petty accounting
My first command would have to always be "Find a bank and deposit that money." My 2nd would often be "withdraw X gold." Do you really want to bother with keeping track of what is taken out and what is deposited? I am already enough of a pest asking you to take care of details. It is only going to get worse if you say that if I don't pay attention to details, bad things will happen.

In our current situation, we would have obviously been carrying all our combat materials, but why would we have been carrying that dress? It would have just been something that just weighs us down.
Now the money is more of a mixed bag. We are not expecting to be anywhere near a store and so, it is just a burden we would have to carry back and forth. definitely better to leave it in some safe place. But it is valuable stuff, and so maybe we are too nervous to leave it behind. So it is more of a judgement call as to whether we left the money home. But it is not something we would always be carrying.
In the current case we can say that Edris cleaned out the inn too if you want to stick to Flo being dead broke, but if you stick to saying that if we don't say it, it didn't happen, you will regret it.

The thing is that this is an extreme situation. It will be extremely rare for us to lose everything. Basically think of many JRPG-style games. At certain story points, you'll get captured and all your stuff will be in a chest somewhere. That's basically what's going on here.

But the problem with what you suggest comes when players assume that we have something that we wouldn't normally bring along with us. Say we were out here and didn't get all our stuff taken but decided to tear up the dress to use as bandages or something. Then it would be assumed that we were carrying something "non-essential".

The main key to all this is just not to think too far into it, especially when it comes to the mechanics of it all. My "gameplay mechanics" are very loose right now as I'm still figuring things out.

Saw this coming. Oh well people are stupid. What else is new?
Survival takes priority, so heal up with magic and try to return to Malor and ask for help. Jates would like to know what happened to Myla. :'( Mitchell should also know what happened to Garret. And we need to tell Marcus everything. He's our only choice at recovering the stuff they took from us, and if we are lucky, find out what ended up happening to our friends. I really hope we can rescue them somehow. Or at least, retrieve their remains. ;w;

WELP. I tried, even if my reasoning wasn't directly "We will be betrayed."

Ah well. We can manipulate earth, right? Let's make us some soil armor or somethin'.

Heal. Then... I suppose attempt navigation based on the direction the moon is...We need to head to the Captain... He at least needs to be warned that the bandits know of the soldier raid. Unfortunately that needs to be our top priority.

We were warned, and we went into it *expecting* it to be a trap of some kind (Floria was being paranoid the entire way, as was Myla). Which was kind of the point. If you know the trap is there, you can poke it and be ready for whatever's coming.

Except we completely failed on the "be ready" part, despite everyone waiting for the other shoe to drop. And they somehow still managed to sneak up on us (and past Myla) despite all expectations.

Now, I can accept that maybe Floria just had exceptionally shitty luck on the "being ready" part (a downside of any dice-based system). However, the GM mocking players like that is very not cool. With that comment, I'm more pissed off at the GM than worried about Floria.

If you'd left out that one line, then it would have been fine. We're in a bad situation, and have to figure out what to do. That's pretty traditional RPG fare, and I'd applaud the GM for forcing things into hard mode for a while.

Every single reader that wants to say, "I told you so", is perfectly within their rights, as commenting on other players' choices, or berating anyone who didn't vote. But when the GM starts on that, that changes the tone of the conversation entirely, while also instigating players against each other, and derailing the conversation into whose 'fault' it was, rather than a bit of moaning and then focusing on what to do next.

For the record, I'm in the "didn't bother voting" camp, for a variety of reasons. Part of that is that I generally have nothing to contribute to the conversation, and have no interest in reading a thread with a ton of people saying exactly the same thing. This is a free-form system, rather than one that has proper structured voting (easily doable in-thread with a tweak to a tally counting program), so mostly seems like it follows the story on the lines of "whatever the GM feels like", or perhaps, "whatever the GM likes out of what was said". If I have no *new* idea to give the GM, or adjustment to something someone else said, then it's irrelevant. I don't comment for the sake of making noise.

As such, when the GM goes with whatever option, and then mocks the players for it....

I apologize if I sounded mocking. I assure you I didn't mean it like that. For me, it was just surprising that so many people were all willing to walk into this, even if they were being careful.

I know now that several of these people did it with the intention of getting Floria into trouble, but oh well.

Again, didn't mean to sound rude about that.

The way I see it, all of the comments generate a sort of collective opinion or idea. Usually, the unique ideas tend to get followed relatively quickly by others who end up changing their vote. Even if your idea may be similar to what has already been posted, it never hurts to simply put "I agree". It just further contributes to the collective thought. So basically, the more the merrier.

Seriously if reality has been ensuing on us thus far, I don't think Floria's going to last much longer here.

We've been brought back to square one, so that when we build ourselves back up, we'll be twice as strong.

Bledric

I say that we find some form of civilization to heal at and recuperate ourselves before going to the soldiers and informing them of the variety of life choices we have made up to this point to end up at this outcome. Then, we go and track down these bandits and finish what we allowed to continue. What's done is done, we have business to resolve at this point and friends lives at stake. Even if it's to late for them, we can still at least take responsibility for our choices and act. We started this, and it's our task to end it.

AtmosRobot

Well, this certainly is a dilly of a pickle. All we can do now is survive the night. Maybe I just haven't been observant enough, but I have no idea what could be lurking within the woods. Anything we can do to avoid detection and deter monsters will help us get through the night.

We need to rest. I would hazard a guess, though, that resting as we are is not going to get us back to full health. Also, resting may not be the best course of action, anyway. We could end up getting eaten in our sleep.
