No. There's no good reason to do it. Want to make another character LIKE her that's older? Sure. Give stories that are explicitly of her future self at 18+? Do it. But a reboot by definition gets rid of the original, and there's no reason to not continue with the younger one.

It's not a bad idea,older Samantha is nice. The only problem is that the image of an innocent girl who doesn't fully comprehend the wrongness of what she's doing will be gone, it was kinda her main attribute, in my eyes at least. But hey, a reboot wouldn't hurt if it provides an image just as good as the one I provided above.

Perhaps instead of a complete reboot, have OG Samantha be preoccupied with something like summer camp, and due to some random scifi stuff, Future Samantha pops up to go on wacky adventures in the present.

On the one hand, as is she works because of her small size and innocence.

On the other, if her backstory’s basically the same and she’s this young coddled girl, it’d basically make no real difference other than size and face (and even THAT could barely change, being like 5 foot nothing, being flat, and having a baby face).

So, it’s pretty much up to you.

I personally would quite like an eighteen year old version. It could maybe be explained by the story somehow, rather than just erasing her younger self.

Maybe something to do with time travel or converging timelines?
