Things are getting a bit tense... Just think, the last time Fiona and Jack had a "serious" disagreement, they were probably little kids and it was probably adorable.

Oh, boy. This story killed me for some reason. Once I start on a given story, it usually only takes a few days of typing for a couple hours at a time to get it finished. This story dragged on for a month. And it was all because of that one ~500 word scene with the two of them in class. I couldn't tell you why. I felt like I was having a hard time with the emotions and was trying to get it just right. I actually wrote four separate versions of that scene (which is something I basically never do). And guess what: after a month of working at it, we decided that the first version was the best, and that's what you're reading here. Another vore writer with a dragon-themed name once wrote "God is a trickster; irony is His weapon". I'd say that tracks.

Speaking of "killed" and "this story", things got a bit dark in this one, huh? It might end up being the darkest in the whole series by the end (I certainly don't intend for it to get much darker). Hope it doesn't turn anyone away; the darkness makes the light seem that much brighter when it comes. That said, asking if Jack will get to "see the bright light" at the end of all this a heck of a mixed metaphor.

As always, this installment of HNTBL was created in collaboration with  x9comega, whom patiently put up with my deliberations. Want to remember the happier times before Fiona and Jack were mad at each other? You can find the whole series here:

The thought finally crossed her mind... Not sure Jack's going to stay safe much longer!

Thanks! I’m happy to hear this one turned out well after all the sweat. And I’m very happy to hear how excited you were to read it. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long for us to get the next one out.

The worst part of a story you enjoy, is the long wait for the next chapter to come out. I know it takes time, but the wait can be sheer torture :D

Hope Omega sees this, 'cause titles are always a pain for us. Not only do we always try to come up with something with a double meaning, but they all have to fit as an answer to the question "How Not To Become Lunch?" which is a more annoying limitation than you (or me, at the start of this series) might think. Happy to see that little detail appreciated.

Oooooooh, this is getting even more interesting. When I first started reading this I thought it would be the human and his eventual werewolf girlfriend, but now it looks like two friends are going to be going seperate ways, the how is still up in the air though. I have theories but nothing is certain.

If you’re not sure how it’s going to end, then I’m doing my job well- especially if you have theories.

Personally I didn't find this one that dark, the realizations Jack and Fiona had actually made it a bit lighter for me.

And just for amusements sake.

Alzare = raise (increase)
adhair = air

Pellere = push, drive, hurl, or something of the sort.

And of course Levito = levitate

TheDragonBoy

Those are all right!

A couple fun facts:
The spell "pellere" was almost used two other times in this series (in #22 and #23), but the mages who tried both got cut off before they could finish casting.

"Levito" was the first spell ever introduced in the series, all the way back in #2. But the kid who tried to use it failed (and ended up as Ms. Caster's lunch), and we didn't see anyone successfully use the spell until #36.

Thinking of the end of the first scene I decided to look up the phrase 'Death by stomachgasm' and couldn't find anything, this is a travesty I say, a travesty! I couldn't even find and vore uses of the word stomachgasm, it was all foodie stuff, so sad. :(

Not sure I've ever heard that one. Urban Dictionary doesn't even have a definition for it. I would have definitely thought it was a vore word if you hadn't told me otherwise. Are we *sure* it's not only used by foodies who happen to be vorarephiles too? XD

2Ron2R

That's what's so strange about it. It's a simple portmanteau, you'd think vorarephiles would be using it. There's certainly enough stories and art out there where preds are having an orgasm like experience in their stomachs.

There's no way to be sure of course. Vorarephile and foodie certainly aren't mutually exclusive, but they aren't using it in a vore context (at least not that I found).

A foodie pred is an interesting character concept come to think of it.

I'm still hoping Jack and Fiona getting through this together in the end.

Just wanted to mention something that's been on my mind for a while now. I noticed that of all the Preds that has attempted to eat Jack, the only one who actually had him all the way down, is Sissy, and she did it twice. I wonder if that means something :D

TheDragonBoy

Posted by TheDragonBoy 3 years ago Report

Well, if you ask Sissy, I'm sure she'd tell you it means she's a great predator, just like her big sister, and that next time she has Jack in her belly he'll be hers for good.

Well, one can only hope :D

Sure thing, but my comment was in response to TheDragonBoy.

Well, compared to the darkness that my spinoff has it is "light". So you can add it without a single shred of fear that your readers will turn away. This amount of darkness spices things up really for the better.

Fun reminder, it’s only officially Cannon if it’s in one of Dragon’s uploaded stories. That also includes comments me or he make, if we later wrote something that contradicts a comment, the Canon fact is the one in the officially uploaded story.

Nomad3628

Well, I hope that one day it can be officially Cannon. But the second and the third sentence of this comment is true without a doubt.

The first part of my comment is also true without a doubt.
