Gretchen reluctantly
attempted to obey the squeaky, chipper voice's demand. She didn't
really want to; it was the dead of night and the alcohol was sitting
on her like a heavy blanket (not that Gretchen knew what it was like
to sleep under a heavy blanket; she slept nude and exposed). But she
was being spoken to, and she was being spoken to in
