The four tinies sat on each side of the box, their backs against the cardboard. They looked nervously at one another as they listened to the couple outside the box whisper to one another.




“What do you think they want with us?” one of the tiny women asked. She was wearing heels that she had pulled off and put to the side. Her dress was short and sky blue and made her blue eyes pop, even in the dimness of the box.

I sat silently and
motionlessly on Loki’s bed. I stared down at my hands, which were
folded neatly into my lap. They were cracked and dried up, I noticed,
and I started to think that I really needed to start wearing gloves
more often to protect myself in the horrible frost Asgard has been
getting.
“Elizabeth,” Loki said,
snapping me out of my thoughts. “Are you there?”

I woke with a start,
whipping my body up from the bed. My head ached, and my vision was
blurry. My lips were dried and cracked, and my eyes were sore from
crying.
I blinked once, then twice,
and tried to remember everything that had happened. Memories from the
night before poured into my mind. I could see Loki sitting in his
chair, smirking at me, and I remembered the taste of my throw-up.

I took a deep breath, pausing a
moment before I opened the door. The guards watched me, waiting to
