While it is a fun pic in terms of theme, and I do enjoy the sight of Peach absolutely dominating Daisy or any other Nintendo gal, this does feel a bit lesser on the quality scale we've seen outta you, Aesir.

Granted, the shading on Peach's heels and both girl's crowns looks good. Shading metal and plastic can always be a bit tough, and you've always had a thing for making skin shiny, so this maybe wasn't as difficult to pull off.

But outside of that, the most obvious (atleast to me) flaw is the shading; it's fairly weak. It ranges from barely noticeable, such as the skin under Peach's thighs being almost the same color as above when the shadow at the top of her implies the light source is beneath her, to very simple, such as the shading on her and Daisy's hair or their dresses being a teensy bit drab. The background itself, while very much in theme and that's a fun plus, it too has VERY little shading or lighting effects put into it too.

Now, I do give props for the massive size difference and angle attempted here. It has a sense of depth to it, and the angle isn't the usual horizontal-plane one either. Things like foreshortening of Peach's arm came out well, while the rest of her body does seem a bit cramped, but the effort IS there. And Peach's bent foot is a bit short I guess. However, I do still feel the shading is something of an afterthought here, Aesir. I know you've had troubles recently, and maybe it's affecting your work. So, a good picture, but it has some clear issues to a person like myself.

Even so, hope we see more from you now, Aesir.

You might've hit the nail on the head of what was feeling lackluster about it to me, too. I sometimes worry about making some shadows 'too dark', so I tend to lower the opacity on certain ones to try and combat that as well to keep with the more 'bright and colorful' style of the chars, but I think on a picture with a subject this size I should have left it alone.
This was my first time attempting such a 'cramped' feeling as well, which I really wanted to capture, but to be honest when it came to certain things (Like shading the hair close to the ceiling) I just kind of 'defaulted'.
I'll also admit that, me being quite late on this due to a screwup in November, lead me to just kind of call it finished so I could start on the December one and make sure I wasn't backed up come January.
In the end, I was trying a lot of new stuff all at once on a bit of a time crunch. It's a good learning experience for sure, maybe if I have some time I'll adjust the shading levels and see if it looks better. It doesn't matter that the skin under her legs IS darker than the skin above, since it doesn't -look- like that. I still don't like the shape of her heels in general, but it's too late to fix that without basically redoing the pic. High heels are something I really want to practice.

Even if I don't get a chance to toy with it, I appreciate your honest critique and will keep it in mind going forward. :D I stopped making skin so shiny because of similar critiques I was hearing, so don't think I just brush this kind of stuff off. Every piece is a learning experience.

I'm not riding to your defense like a white knight or something, but I think for trying a bunch of new things this was a very good attempt. I was beginning to feel your style was getting a bit stale, and this image was so different from your usual style I didn't even notice you were the artist until I read the description! The coloring choices, the angle, it's so dynamic! There is so much you were playing with yet you did a great job with this, even if there is plenty of room for improvement like hibby said.

It's small, but I did adjust the values and added some quick shadows elsewhere. It's not a perfect fix, but hopefully looks better. :)

Well I like to think I'm good/skilled with words seeing as I write so, I'm glad I seemed to luck out and pinpoint what bothered you. Personally I'm of the mindset that it's better to go a little dramatic/strong with shading as opposed to what we both saw here and it being fairly subdued. If anything I'd imagine it would make a colourful palette like you used here stand out more. I will admit it is hard to not just default to auto-draw mode when it comes to some things, so it's good that you owned up to it.

Feeling rushed is never a good thing so, that's understandable of course. And like I pointed out, I definitely did see you actually attempt some new things here, and that does matter a lot to me as a viewer of yours since I have felt a lot of your stuff did get a bit samey even before that October ordeal of a pic a day. Of course it doesn't change the reality of the situation, but it does put some context behind it, which always matters. That and, I will say I'd LOVE to see you try drawing heels more often. Like em me'self, and to see you doing unusual BDSM or even just normal high heels, would be killer.

In the end it's still a good picture, it just has some flaws as you and I have pointed out. Similarly, if you liked shiny skin I would've kept with it, but it is good to atleast hear out the critics, otherwise I would've been glossed over, haha. Good that you approach each piece as a learning experience, but never treat art like a job now; hobbies should be fun, not strenuous or feel like work. That stifles creativity more than encourages it.

Hmm, should've saved the original to compare. Ahah, ahh well. I'll look over this, see if it's that much different. So far so good.
