Old Flames By thecheese01 -- Report

A woman receives a late-night call from an old college fling to help with a particularly troublesome meal. Passions rekindle, and old wounds find themselves dredged to the surface.

This story now has a prequel! Check it out here.

Tags contain some content and thematic spoilers (seriously, they're a mess. If anyone wants to pitch some suggestions, I'm all ears). Fair warning, there's also some fairly graphic digestion by my standards, though it's experienced from the outside perspective.

Obligatory thanks to  Progressive for patiently lending his ear and input on the ending in the middle of the goddamn night.

So here's a thing that kind of came out of nowhere. I swear I'm still trying to finish up that old idea list story, but then this just sort of happened.

This one's short and sweet, at just over 2.6k words.

Minor spoilers below:

Did I mention I'm on something of a romance + vore kick?

So, as you may have guessed, this is actually prompt #4 from the latest idea list. However, as I was writing it out I realized it was also prompt #1. I did my best to leave a fair amount implied, but this is from Liz's perspective and she's the one who really has a "character moment" here. I also tried to keep things fairly brief here. Hopefully it doesn't come across as too rushed, but I find I've been getting lost in the weeds a bit with some of my other work. This really was an active effort in conveying as much through dialogue and implication as possible, while leaving narration for setting and nonverbal bits.

Let me know if you think it worked out.

Also there's at least one more story from that latest list still on the way. Expect something a bit longer than this, but still under 5k words (and of course that old one-off!)

Edit:
9/9/20: Took another minor polish pass at this one. Mainly mixing up some word choice and punching up verbs.

Gut-slut having to learn her actions have consequences is a new theme.

Rarely do I find romance and vore done well, and I see it done perfectly here, to the point that I really want more. You could really run with these characters in future stories in all sorts of manners. It would be interesting to see Liz go to the therapist and the therapist teaches her some secret method for making unbirth possible and seeing where that interesting line of thought leads. There'd also be alot more pain to work through, and that pain really helps to make this story just as much as the romance does. Either way, delightful story and I hope to see these two in the future.~

Hey, thanks for the kind words! I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy writing these two as much as I did, to the point where I'm now fairly certain I'll be returning to these characters at some point down the road.

I have to admit, I'm tempted to write out a cute short with that "first night" scene I hinted at, but then again we already know how that one ends. I think the real meat here is that general concept of two flawed individuals trying to do better for themselves and each other (in their own weird ways).

And hey, I did technically hint at unbirth being within the realm of physical possibility, though I'm not entirely sure how "safe" I would consider it. I'll definitely mull it over.

I want you to know that this is *the* cutest. I love preds that have a hard time staying "on the wagon" and prey that are at odds with themselves about if they'd want to be eaten, and the two of them paired up is always lovely. The hey-I-just-bit-off-more-than-I-can-chew-come-over-ASAP-to-give-me-belly-rubs bootycall trasing the pred is also an A+ trope. Prosewise the flow is really nice and the tension is palpable. Excellent story!

Thank you! That phone call really was the impetus for this thing, and the rest just kind of evolved from there.

The more I think on it, the more I realize I definitely still have something to say regarding these characters. I sort of imagine Sara's conflict as less "staying on the wagon" and more trying to be something she isn't, but Liz really is the one who needs to work through things and figure out what she actually wants. We'll see if that pans out.

I love romance and vore combined. It's so sweet. I feel the love between them.

The way Liz helps Sara digest is so original and fun.

I'm glad I could read the prequel before reading this story. Liz and Sara is such a nice couple, and I especially love seeing these two making out simultaneously as the pair in Sara's belly are making out. I hope Sara and Liz can make their chemistry work out for the better in the future, these two deserve each other^^.
