Space

The
air echoed with rumbling, soft thunder, but when she looked up, the
night sky was as barren as ever. The sand dune she had been sleeping
in had long since chilled to near freezing, but the barest hint of
blue on the horizon told her dawn would soon break. She shifted,
rocking her body sideways as she braced her four arms against the
dune, sand cascading off her carapace. She pushed up to her feet, the

When did I decide? It wasn't in bed, no spur of the moment decision with my head resting on my lover's- scratch that, my husband's chest. It wasn't when I heard my fate, on a slope of blackened, baked rocks halfway up a volcano. And it wasn't even when I surrendered to the guards at the front door of my nemesis's castle. It was fifteen years ago, when my childhood best friend- later my nemesis, but always the love of my life- and I stole a first kiss from each other. I knew then that I wanted to

“The Long Way Home”
Force should be right; or rather, right and wrong—
Between whose endless jar justice resides—
Should lose their names, and so should justice too.
Then every thing includes itself in power,
Power into will, will into appetite;
And appetite, a universal wolf,
So doubly seconded with will and power,
Must make perforce a universal prey,
And last eat up himself.

A
Braviary’s screeching cry echoed across the chilly hills, its
warble distorted into a single wavering note by distance. The midday
sun illuminated the sparse trees, reflected brightly off the patches
of mosses and scraggy grasses with hardly a cloud in the sky to
provide the hillsides shade from its bright rays. The sounds of the

The

By Emberell
Stars

the moon. A cool chill rustled through the chocolate- brown feathers
of a handsome gryphon standing purposefully outside a chilly cave. He
felt the cold breath comb through his creamy white tummy feathers,
but the chill didn’t bother him. He had more than enough feathers
to keep him warm in much brisk

My alien bird dragon
I saw them walk out of the cave, and
they started gagging, as if they couldn’t breathe. I wonder why. At
any rate I waited till they were all laying down… I walked among
them seeing that they were dead, some moving with a nerve twitch…
till I see one that is moving… I walk over to it and look over its
body… I see that it has two holes… I push my finger into each,
but find one stinks and the other is empty… Is it female? I wonder
as I couldn’t fit more into th

This was definitely
not Berk.
The wind that
echoed through the red–rock quarries here was warm and dry, there
was little shade to speak of, and Hiccup was almost sweating in his
flight harness as he sat perched up on a stone by the sea, watching
Toothless dive in the ocean for fishes not far off. Probably not
so great for his flight equipment, but it was never a good plan to
argue with a hungry dragon. He might eat your boots out of spite.
Well, the one boot,
anyway…
