“In every town I visited on the southern coast, the local fishermen regaled me with their local legends to give their dreary homes some flavor. One town, for example, solemnly informed me that in the waters beyond their excellent bay lurked a magical and beguiling creature, half-woman and half-squid. They offered to boat me out into the bay to show me, but I had to refuse such a waste of my time.”

When Peter Wienermeijer's sister died after a long battle with breast cancer, it was the last time he saw any of his family. He never visited her when she was dying because of one excuse or another. He hated her. He hated her for telling their parents when he molested her. It was supposed to be their little secret. That's what her tried to get her to understand. It doesn't matter now because she's dead anyway. They only allowed him to stay until she passed away because she wanted them to forgive
