Lilly
Tayn lived on her stepmother’s farm down by the river. The river
ran past swift, wide, and deep. In fall, the southern fish raced up
river to spawn, flying past the rocks like silver arrows towards the
mountains. The trappers came, following after the fish, to catch the
bears and birds that caught the fish. Lilly’s father had been a
trapper; a tall, powerful man with lean arms and legs who could pluck
a bird from the sky with an arrow.

I sit down at
one of the twenty public computers available at the Internet café
and log onto my seller’s account at Amazon while my best friend
Mark pulls up a chair.
“So what’s
so special about this bid anyway?” Mark asks sitting down next to
me.
“I got a bunch
of trading cards from this old man for only twenty five hundred.” I
start to explain.

off. “You spent over two thousand dollars on some trading cards?”
he says bewildered. “You can’t be serous Ty.”

The
week after Splatfest, Leigh asked Shawnie to join him for his next
stream.
“We
haven't done a stream in a while,” he told her while they were
cuddling on the couch. “I haven't splatted you in so long the
viewers are starting to wonder if I dumped you. I keep telling them
my toilet is working so there's no way I could have gotten rid of
you! But I guess hearing your voice would help.”

back to diapers for me.
