I dunno. The rig is just the invisible skeleton the model attaches to to move around. I think you're talking about the model which is the actual body you see. The problem i was referring to was how midna's model attaches to her rig; for some reason when her knees bend, they come inward as if she's doing a potty-dance. if i try to put the knees where they are supposed to go, the thigh twists until it's ugly to look at. i just downloaded a new model though i have yet to work on. mayeb it's fixed on that one...

That's beyond my knowledge. It has nothing to do with the rig though. I mean they have something called head-hacking, and another thing where you take a headless model and just take a head you want and shrink the body down and place it so it looks like it's normal-sized head belongs on the headless body and blah blah blah...

I know how hard animation is because I had to draw the picture break up all the body parts and draw multiple frames to make puppets and then animated it in pivot with all the pieces not connected together only for a couple of seconds of animation.

3D models must be a nightmare to work with but I could not really say since I never got the chance and probably never will.
